Hello!

This message is for Junior Students and Parents/Guardians of Junior Students:

Tuesday, March 14 is our annual EHS Junior Night. This event will take place from 5:30pm-6:30pm in the EHS theatre. This event provides the opportunity to learn about college, trades programs, and other great options for after graduation. This year, we even have a $1000 scholarship that will be given by random drawing to one lucky junior in attendance. (Thanks to ECMC for providing this generous scholarship.)

You will never have better odds of winning a scholarship than this!

Postcards are being mailed home soon to notify families of this event, but it is very much intended for both juniors and their parents/ guardians. Get great information to help shape your plans for after high school! See Ms. Brittany or Mr. Wirth with questions.

Is your student in need of some credit recovery? Would you like to keep your student ON TRACK for graduation?
If yes, then consider signing your student up for summer school at Elmira High School! We are offering a four week program from 9:30am to 1:00pm Monday through Thursday. We will offer Math, Science, English, and History in person, as well as a variety of courses online. Lunch will be provided. In-person summer school runs from July 11th through August 4th. The school district will provide transportation if you need it. Please consider signing up!

Dear Parents/Guardians of Junior Students,

I would like to invite you and your student to attend a special event being held for Juniors. This event will begin the planning process for your student’s senior year and post-secondary goals.  Junior Night will be on Wednesday, April 27th at 5:30p.m. in the EHS Theater. Doors will open at 5:00pm.

Information presented will include admissions requirements for four-year colleges and universities, community colleges, and career technical schools, as well as guidance on scholarship searches and financial aid. We will cover important topics like finding a good college fit, ways to help pay for college thru scholarships and financial aid, and an overview of deadlines and online resources. For students considering career options, we’ll cover programs like Connected Lane County and other career-planning resources. We will end the night with some general senior year information.

Rising seniors and families will be able to file a 2022–2023 FAFSA to apply for college financial aid early in senior year. Additionally, the state of Oregon offers the Oregon Promise, which can cover a significant portion of two years of community college tuition. Pathways (U of Oregon) and Bridge to Success (Oregon State) are need-based programs that can cover the cost of 4 years of tuition at those colleges. And many private colleges have significant aid available to reduce the cost of attendance. There are a lot of great resources for students to explore post-high school plans, and ways to pay for it, but it is also a lot of information to sort thru. Thru this this event, our goal is to help clarify these and other opportunities and help you and your student sort out how they might impact you in the upcoming year.

I strongly encourage both you and your student to attend this information night.  There will be a lot to accomplish between now and June, 2023!

See you on April 27th!

Sincerely,

Brittany McMillan (Last Names A-K)

Court Wirth (Last Names L-Z)

The packet includes valuable Senior Year information (i.e., Senior year timeline, graduation requirements, etc.) and Post-Secondary information (i.e., financial aid, CTE career paths, etc.). All of the EHS hybrid students will be hand delivered a Junior Packet by the end of this week.  If you are a Junior student in the Options program you will need to swing by the EHS front office to pick up your Junior Packet by June 25th. Good Afternoon Senior Students and Parents/Guardians,

My name is Sandie Smith and I am an ASPIRE mentor at Elmira High School.  I have volunteered for 16 years at the High School, helping Seniors do FAFSA, OSAC, Scholarships and College Admissions along with helping stay on track with the colleges of choice.  This year I will be continuing helping Seniors, but I am now an employee of Fern Ridge School District.

I worked with the Class of 2020 and as you all know, the last part of the year, there were no students in the building so everything was done by phone, zoom or email.  I was able to continue assisting the Seniors through the end of the school year and it was very successful.

Due to the changes this year with Covid-19, I’m having to do things a little differently.  In the past, ASPIRE had a table set up during registration for students to fill out an ASPIRE form and that is how I got my list of seniors who were reaching out for my assistance.  Well today I would like to reach out and see who would like to be a part of ASPIRE/HELP with you going forward after High School.  I will be attempting to call each of you as well.  If you are ready to get started fill out a PERMISSION FORM. You can scan and email the completed form back to me, or drop it off at the EHS front office.

If you are aware of who I am and what I do and you are interested in being a part of my team, please email me and let me know.  Sandieevo@aol.com. Please include your first and last name in the email.  If you would like to include a phone number that works best for you, please include that as well.

I look forward to working with the class of 2021.  We can do this.
