Week of September 16, 2019

Well, well, well.  We meet again.

This week in Mr. Hart’s classes:

  • English 3A: We will be wrapping up our short story unit with readings of “The Thrill of the Grass”, “The Thief”, and others.  There will be a vocabulary test on Wednesday
  • Poetry: We will be working on structured poetry like Sonnets
  • AP Lit: We will be wrapping up our short story unit with “A Rose for Emily” and “Where are You Going? Where Have you Been?”. There will be a practice test essay at the end of the week
  • Contemporary Lit: We will be wrapping up our short story unit with readings of “Teenage Wasteland” and others

  • This Wednesday is the EHS Open House.  It is from 5:00 – 7:00.  There will be a social time as well as snacks provided.  Please come!

Aloha and Welcome Back!

This week in Mr. Hart’s classes:

  • AP Lit: We will be reading various short stories from the textbook and taking practice AP tests.  Our focus this week will be on the parts of a story
  • English 3: We will be reading various short stories and working on identifying the different parts of a story
  • Poetry: We will be looking at various poems and practicing our analyzing skills.  Later in the week, we will focus on poetic structures
  • Contemporary Lit: We will be reading various short stories this week and working on identifying the different parts of a story

Goodbye and Good Luck Seniors!

This week in Mr. Hart’s classes:

  • AP Lit: We will wrap up the year with a teacher evaluation
  • Science Fiction: We will finish the film and wrap up the year with a class/teacher evaluation
  • Contemporary Lit: We will finish the film and wrap up the year with a class/teacher evaluation
  • English 1: We will be spending all week working on and writing our final speech assignment.

Seniors – You’re almost there!

This week in Mr. Hart’s classes:

  • AP Lit: We will be finishing up a film and completing the assignment
  • Science Fiction: We will be finishing up “I Robot” and we will complete our discussion on Sci-Fi
  • English 1: We will have Ms. Kane’s final lesson (on Adverbs) and we will be continuing our look at creating a speech
  • Contemporary Lit: We will be finishing up our reading of “The Things They Carried”

Seniors have this week and next Monday and Tuesday!

Hello people!

This week in Mr. Hart’s classes:

Actually, for all English 1 classes, and Contemporary Lit., they will become Ms. Tarah Kane’s classes as she begins her student teaching component this week.  That being said, this is what we’re doing:

  • AP Lit: We will continue reading “Wuthering Heights”
  • English 1: Students will begin their next unit – “Romeo and Juliet”
  • Contemporary Lit: We will be finishing up the film version of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”.  We will then begin our next novel – “Ordinary People”
  • Science Fiction: We will be watching “Young Frankenstein”, then begin our next unit – Dystopias and “1984” by George Orwell

Welcome back from your Spring Break!

No foolin’, this is what we’re doin’ in Mr. Hart’s classes this week:

  • AP Lit: We will continue our studying of “Wuthering Heights”
  • Science Fiction: We will wrap up “Frankenstein” and watch a film version of the novel
  • English 1B: Students will continue studying poetry using handouts and poems from their textbooks
  • Contemporary Lit: We will wrap up “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and begin watching the film version in class (students need to turn in permission slip!)

No school on Friday (teacher work day)

AP Lit class is headed to Ashland this Wednesday to see a play!
