Week of March 18th, 2019

Hello there!

Sorry last week didn’t get updated.  Since most teachers (including myself) didn’t have access to any of our online documents, I had to spend most of my time re-creating my lessons.  Now the documents are back – and so am I!

This week in Mr. Hart’s classes:

  • AP Lit: We have started reading “Wuthering Heights” by Emily Bronte. There is a vocabulary test this Friday
  • Science Fiction: We are continuing to read “Frankenstein” in class.  There is a vocabulary test this Thursday
  • English 1B: We are continuing our study of poetry.  There is a vocabulary test on Thursday
  • Contemporary Lit: We are reading Parts 3 and 4 (the end) of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”

I will not be at school Wednesday-Friday of this week.  I will be chaperoning EHS kid’s trip to the East Coast!

Spring is here, so make sure you get out and support our softball/baseball/track and field teams!

Wishing we still were on our three day weekend?  Me too.

This week in Mr. Hart’s classes:

  • AP Lit will be finishing up “Hamlet”.  There will be an essay, and we will be watching the film version (Mel Gibson!)
  • Science Fiction will begin our unit on technology by reading a play, and a couple of short stories
  • English 1B will be wrapping up “Night” with a test at the end of the week, and watching a couple of documentaries
  • Contemporary Lit will continue reading “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

Snow, Rain, Sno…nope, more Rain!

This week in Mr. Hart’s classes:

  • AP Lit will read Acts 4 and 5 of Hamlet and have a vocabulary test
  • English 1 will complete “Night” and have a vocabulary test on Tuesday
  • Science Fiction will have a vocabulary test on Tuesday and watch the film “Contact”
  • Contemporary Literature will have a vocabulary test on Tuesday and begin reading “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” by Ken Kesey

This week is the final week for Boys and Girls Basketball.  EHS is at Siuslaw Tuesday night, and Thursday night we are home for Senior Night!  Come out and show your support as we take on the Marshfield Pirates!

This week in Mr. Hart’s classes:

  • AP Lit: We will have a new vocabulary list, and we will continue reading “Hamlet” in class
  • English 1: We will have a new vocabulary list, and we will continue reading “Night” in class
  • Science Fiction: We will have a new vocabulary list, and we will continue reading short stories about space and aliens
  • Contemporary Lit: We will have a new vocabulary list, and we will continue reading short stories.  We may begin our first novel at the end of the week

Falcon basketball has two games this week, both at home.  Tuesday we play Junction City, and Friday we play Cottage Grove.  Let’s pack the Falcon’s Nest for those games! Games begin at 4:15 pm.

Welcome to the Second Semester!

Seniors are halfway done (some might already be “done”)

This week in Mr. Hart’s classes:

  • AP Lit will begin “Hamlet” by William Shakespeare
  • English 1 will begin “Night” by Elie Wiesel
  • Science Fiction will be discussing the genre of Sci-Fi, and we will read a few short stories
  • Contemporary Lit will be reading some short stories and discussing some of the common themes of the 20th and 21st centuries

Last week before finals!

There are no separate assignments on the above drop-down menus. Here is what we are doing this week in Mr. Hart’s classes:

  • AP Lit: We are covering poems in the Figurative Language Section.  Final test will be on poetry.  See Mr. Hart for a review handout packet:

  • Poetry: We will be sharing our song lyrics this week and analyzing them together in class.  Homework is to write your own rap song (due Tuesday).  There is a list of terms to know for the final:

Welcome back (and Happy New Year)!

This week in Mr. Hart’s classes:

  • AP Lit: We will continue with our study of Poetry
  • English 1: We will begin reading House on Mango Street after finishing the movie version of “The Odyssey”
  • Poetry: We will share our Winter/Maya Angelou poems, then begin our music/lyrics unit

Girl’s basketball is home Tuesday and Friday (Tillamook/Marist).  Come out and support the teams!
