The loss of seven school days over the last month has necessitated some changes in our calendar. The first issue that needed to be addressed was pushing back the end of the first semester.  At the School Board meeting last night it was recommended, and subsequently approved, to change January 27^th from a non-school day to a school day, and to change February 3^rd from a school day to a non-school day.  This effectively moves the end of our semester to Thursday, February 2^nd.  Please note this change on your calendars.

The second issue the board addressed was the potential of adding back days. While many options were discussed, including attending school on holidays, eliminating early release Wednesdays, attending during Spring Break, extending the school year, etc….two options were recommended for consideration.  The first option simply has the school year being extended by 5 days, with the last school day occurring on Thursday, June 22^nd.  The second option has the end of the school year being extended by 3 days (ending on June 20^th), with the other two days being identified and made up between now and the end of the school year (attending on Presidents Day, the Friday before Memorial weekend, another non-school day, etc)…..The board plans on making a decision at their next meeting on February 6^th.   Both options considered have us adding back 5 of the 7 days we have missed, and assume no more snow days.  If we have more snow days, other adjustments will need to be made.

We are bummed to announce that due to the number of canceled school days this past week, the winter concert scheduled for tomorrow (January 10th) has been canceled.  Mr. Soffer and Mrs. Kappler will send information home about other upcoming performances.

Update: Friday, January 6th, All FRSD schools are closed due to dangerous driving conditions. Have a safe weekend and hope to see everyone on Monday.

The band and choir performance has been rescheduled for Tuesday January 10th.  We hope to see everyone there!

FRMS 2nd quarter progress reports were sent home on December 19th.  If you do not receive them during winter break, please let the office know and we will send out another one.

Tomorrow, Friday December 16th FRSD will be on a 2 hour delay with buses on snow routes. This is mostly to assist the many families that are out of power, as well as to ensure we will be transporting in daylight. As with any possible school closure, or lack their of, we encourage families to make the best decision for them. If based on your location or situation you feel it is best if your students stay home, just call the school and let us know.
