September is finally here! The middle school staff hopes everyone enjoyed their summer break. The middle school is ready for students. There are still a few more minor construction projects to be completed. The middle school will schedule an Open House and tour when construction is complete.
Tuesday is for 6th Graders only. This will be a great day for 6th graders to meet their teachers and learn about middle school. Parents are invited to come with their child to a welcome assembly and coffee chat with the principal. The assembly will start at 8:45.
Wednesday is for 7th and 8th Graders only. This will be a great day for 7th and 8th graders to meet some their teachers, see the remodeled parts of middle school, and be reminded of the behavior expectations. Parents are invited to come with their child to a welcome assembly and coffee chat with the principal. The assembly will start at 8:45.
Thursday is for ALL grades.
Tuesday, September 8th: First day of school for 6th graders only. School starts at 8:45. There will be a welcome assembly to start the day. Parents are welcomed to come to the assembly. After the assembly, there will be time to talk to Mr. Barsotti and Mr. Chamber while having coffee and cookies.
Wednesday, September 9th: First day of school for 7th and 8th graders only. School starts at 8:45. Just like the 6th grade day, there will be a welcome assembly to start the day. Parents are welcomed to attend the assembly. After the assembly, there will be time to talk to Mr. Barsotti and Mr. Chamber while having coffee and cookies.
Thursday, September 10th: This is the first day for all students together. The students will be on a regular Thursday schedule.
Registration is next week! Registration will be at the District Office because of the Middle School remodel. The District Office is across the street from the Middle School.
Tuesday August 25th: 7 am to 7 pm
Wednesday, August 26th: 7:30-3:30
Thursday, August 27th: 8-noon
The fees have not changed this year. The registration fee is $10, PE shirts (optional if you want to use one you bought previous years) $6, and $15 for a yearbook (optional). If you would like to pay online, you can do it at FRMS web store.
The construction crew has been doing a great job this summer.
Here are two pictures of the gym. They tore it down to the studs and reinforced it for the seismic safety.
The library is framed, sheet rocked, and primer paint is applied.
On a school business related topic: mark your calendars for Middle School Registration. It is on August 25 (7am to 7 pm), August 26 (7:30am to 3:30pm), and August 27 (8am to noon).
We hope you are having a great start to your summer. If you are looking for the office staff, we have moved across the street to the district office. During the remodel, the best way to get a hold of us is either by email or calling the district office (541) 935-2253 x4201. Our regular phone number has a voicemail, but we cannot answer that number until we are back in the building at the end of August. Here are some pictures of the library during demolition.
Please let all 5th grade parents know that Thursday night (June 4th) is the 5th Fly-Up. It is a great way to meet some teachers and to ease some anxiety about being a 6th graders.
Lost & Found Clothing
Our lost & found is overflowing with an assortment of clothes!!! Please stop by or have your kids check for missing clothing items before school is out. We will be donating the clothing when school is out for summer (June 9th).

Last night, the school board approved the last day of school being June 9th. It was not an easy decision to make but the construction team determined that FRMS remodel is at a high risk of not finishing on time. The team asked to be in the building three days early. The two main timeline concerns are around the seismic construction in the gym and the abatement process in the office area.
When making this decision, the board looked at the state required hours. FRMS is still 12 hours over legal requirement.
The FRMS staff is sorry for any inconvenience this causes your family. We hope these three days will allow us to start on time next year with an awesome library, classrooms, and office space.
