Dear Families,
Recently, we learned that a student on campus has tested positive for COVID-19. As members of the school community, we understand that this might raise concerns alongside a caring response.
At this time, we are conducting contact tracing (if they have been on campus during the infectious period) which includes but is not limited to: reviewing cohort logs, interviewing staff, and checking cameras.
If contact tracing determines that your child is a close contact and needs to be quarantined, you will be personally contacted by school staff within 24-48 hours of the school being notified.
While it is our goal to keep students in school, please be vigilant in regards to watching for primary COVID symptoms. Primary symptoms include: fever of 100.4 or higher, cough, congestion, chills, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, new loss of taste or loss of smell.
We will keep you updated with any new information as it comes out, while meeting the requirements to honor everyone’s right to privacy.
If you have any questions, please contact Olivia Johnson, Principal (ojohnson@fernridge.k12.or.us) or Eric Carman Assistant Principal (ecarman@fernridge.k12.or.us) or Nurse Elliott, our district nurse, at selliott@fernridge.k12.or.us. You can also call Ms. Johnson or Mr. Carman at 541-935-8230
Thank you,
Olivia Johnson

FRMS is happy to announce that parent conferences will be Thursday, October 14th and Friday, October 15th. Thursday conferences will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Friday conferences will be 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. All conferences this fall are virtual. Most will be Zoom conferences but please let teachers know if a phone conference works best for you.
To schedule a conference, please contact the school office or the teacher(s) you want to meet with directly. We will be happy to schedule you in.
We will then post the Zoom links for each teacher’s conferences. There will only be one Zoom link for each teacher, so we ask that you wait in the “waiting room” until the teacher admits you for your conference.
To check how your child is progressing, you just need to sign into your parent Schoology account to see your child’s schedule and grades. You can also contact teachers by phone or email.
Look for teacher Zoom links to be posted the morning of the 14th.
There will be no school on October 15th due to parent conferences.
Below are the links to videos teachers made to introduce themselves and their classrooms to FRMS families. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email or call teachers directly. Click here for a list of staff emails and phone extensions.

This year our Open House will again be a virtual one. It will be Tuesday, October 5th. There will be a 30 minute Q and A with Ms. Johnson and Mr. Carman, our Principal and Assistant Principal from 6:30 to 7:00. If you have any general questions about Fern Ridge Middle School that we can answer, we would be happy to do so during the Q and A. Following the Q and A, FRMS will post links to videos created by each classroom teacher where they introduce themselves and talk about their classrooms.
Here is the link to the live Q and A:
