Just a few more days till school starts!!! We are so excited to have students back in the building full-time. Here are a few morelast minute reminders:
- Water Bottles– Please encourage your child bring a water bottle to school as we want to discourage the use of drinking fountains at this time. Names on the water bottles help us return them to their rightful owner if they get left somewhere.
- Doors Open at 8:00 School starts at 8:30. Dismissal is 3:10 except on Wednesday when it is 1:22.
- 6th and 7th grade enter through the front entrance and 8th grade through the side by Mr. Davis’ classroom.
- Students eating breakfast should go to the commons. Students not eating breakfast, can go to their lockers to put stuff away and then directly to their class.
- Please make sure your child knows their bus route home when they come their first day. Bus routes and stops are here.
- Don’t forget that the first two days are orientation. Sixth grade only comes on Tuesday the 7th. Seventh and Eighth grade only come on the 8th. All students come on the 9th. During orientation students start their day in their homerooms. We will have their homerooms posted and staff available to show them where to go.
- Backpacks are not allowed in the classrooms but and should be put in their locker. They will have plenty of time to practice opening lockers.
- Again this year, it is students and staff only in the main building. Thank you for your understanding.
- Masks and 3 feet social distancing required. Liberal use of hand sanitizers encouraged. 🙂
Just a reminder to families to please use the drop-off lane in the morning. Students can get out at the drop-off point, use the crosswalk to cross to the school, and then go to their assigned entrance. (6th/7th grade Front Entrance, 8th Grade entrance by Mr. Davis’s classroom)
By pulling all the way forward and using the drop-off point, it will help prevent cars from backing up onto Territorial.
Thank you again for helping to keep our students safe. Just click “Read More” for more information about how our drop-off lane works.
Below is a link to the list of bus routes with stops for FRMS students. It really helps to lessen confusion if students know before they come to school on Tuesday or Wednesday, what their morning and afternoon buses are. Thank you.
Welcome to the start of another fabulous year at Fern Ridge Middle School. Our staff has been busy this week getting our building and our classrooms ready for students and we are so excited to have all of our students back full time. Here are some quick reminders and helpful information:
- Tuesday the 7th is 6th grade only. 7th and 8th grade students stay home. It will be an orientation day for our 6th graders.
- Wednesday the 8th is 7th and 8th grade only. 6th grade students stay home. 7th and 8th grade students will have their orientation on the 8th. The 8th is still an early release day and school ends at 1:22.
- All students come for the first “normal” day on Thursday the 9th.
- Bell times: Warning Bell at 8:25; School starts at 8:30. Except for early release, FRMS dismisses at 3:10. On Early Release Wednesdays FRMS dismisses at 1:22.
- 6th and 7th grade students enter through the front. 8th grade enters through the side. Students will be welcomed, asked how they are feeling, asked to use hand sanitizer, and checked for masks when they enter the building.
- Students should bring their planners and binders to school everyday. One of our key focuses this year will be student organization.
- Water Bottles– Students should bring water bottles this year to avoid having to use the drinking fountain. We have one bottle fill station and are in the process of installing a second.
- If you haven’t yet, sign up for text messages from FRMS. The link is on the right hand side of this page. Also you can use the “Subscribe” button on the right hand side to subscribe for updates from this website- which means each time we update the website you will get a copy of the post emailed to you.
- We are here to help. If you have concerns about your child or things come up during the school year, please do not hesitate to give us a call or send us an email. Our teachers are here to help. Click here for a list of staff emails and phone extensions.
- Please make sure to use the drop off lane in the mornings and not the bus lanes or the bus parking area. It really helps ensure student safety and keep the parking lot congestion free. It also helps if, when you get to the drop off point, students can quickly disembark and use the marked crosswalk.
- Schedules– Students will get their schedules their first morning. Schedules are still being adjusted and finalized this week.
- Finally, just a reminder that masks are required inside the building and students do need to practice 3 feet social distancing.
Once again, all of us at FRMS are excited to begin the school year, thrilled that your child will be attending FRMS, here to support your family, and looking forward to the year to come.
