When you come for parent conferences, please check our rapidly growing lost and found for any items that might belong to your child. If you can’t make conferences, please feel free to stop by during our office hours from 7:45 to 3:45 to check for items or encourage your child to check. As you can see we have a lot of items that we would like to return to their owners. At the end of each quarter, anything left in Lost and Found gets donated to a local charity. First Quarter ends October 21st.
Fern Ridge Middle School will hold their Fall Parent Conferences on Wednesday, October 9th from 4 PM to 8 PM and Thursday, October 10th from 8 AM to Noon. Evening conferences are generally more heavily attended and FRMS uses an “arena” style conference on Wednesday night where all teachers are in the commons. On Thursday morning, teachers will be in their classrooms. Both days are “drop by” and appointments are not needed. If there are parents ahead of you, we ask that you wait and teachers will be with you as soon as possible.
Due to Parent Conferences, there will be no school on Thursday, October 10th. There is also no school on Friday, October 11th due to the State Inservice Day.
Please Note: We will not send home progress reports before parent conferences. Progress reports will be given out during progress reports- we will have them in the commons on Wednesday and in the office on Thursday. If parents do not pick up progress reports they will be mailed home after conferences. State assessment results will also be given out during parent conferences.
Fern Ridge Middle School will hold its first parent group meeting of the year Monday, October 7th at 6:30 PM in the FRMS library. The agenda will include plans for Gold Star activities, fundraisers/field trips, and 8th Grade promotion. All FRMS parents/guardians are invited.
We hope to see you there.
Fern Ridge School District is committed to providing the safest possible environment for its students. Three years ago, a new safety protocol called A.L.I.C.E. was implemented by the district, to train our students and staff on how to respond appropriately, in the unlikely event of an armed intruder in one of our school buildings. This training encourages staff and students to respond based on their situation, rather than rely on centralized instructions in dynamic times of crisis. Each year students and staff review A.L.I.C.E. procedures as part of our emergency procedures such as fire drills or earthquake drills.
FRMS students will be reviewing the ALICE training this Wednesday, October 2nd during their Home Room.
If you have any questions about A.L.I.C.E. we encourage you to check out this website: https://www.alicetraining.com/ or contact the school. We would be happy to answer any questions you might have.
All middle school students are invited to join the EHS Cheerleders for a Future Falcon Cheer Clinic on Saturday, October 5th from 10:00 to 2:00 in the EHS main gym. The $25 cost includes lunch and a T-Shirt. Students who attend the Cheer Clinic on the 5th and follow up practices on October 7th and 9th will be invited to perform during halftime at the Varsity football game on October 10th. Sign up forms are available in the FRMS Office.

WE NEED PARENT, COMMUNITY MEMBER AND STUDENT FEEDBACK!
Signed into law in May of 2019, the Student Success Act is a game-changer for our schools! As part of the Student Success Act, the Student Investment Account is non-competitive grant money for Oregon school districts. The focus for these funds is on key areas for improvement — from reducing class size, increasing instructional time, addressing health and safety needs and ensuring a well-rounded education. In order to apply for these funds, our district is required to meaningfully engage stakeholders! We need ALL voices in this conversation. The Fern Ridge portion of this allocation could be in excess of 1 million dollars.
The first and easiest way to get involved is to complete the survey, at the following link: https://lesd.link/FR_Parent_Student_2019
The survey in translatable to Spanish through a drop down menu in the upper right hand corner. Please take a few minutes to complete!
The second way to become involved would be to attend our Community Input Session. The date for this is Tuesday, October 8th. The exact time and location is yet to be determined. As soon as we finalize this information, we will get it out.
Thanks for taking the time to participate and become involved in the future of Fern Ridge Schools.
