Olivia Johnson

Olivia Johnson has been the principal at Veneta Elementary for seven years. Prior to that, she served as the special education director for the Fern Ridge School District. She has been an educator and an administrator at the elementary and middle school levels for over twenty years.

FRMS would like to invites our families and community to our annual Open House on Thursday, September 19th from 6:30 to 7:30. Classrooms will be open for visitation from 6:30 to 7:30. There will be an information and hospitality table in the front hallway.  Come visit your child’s classrooms and meet their teachers!

A gentle reminder that Open House is not a good time for in-depth conversations about individual students. You are always welcome to arrange a more private meeting to discuss your child with teachers or our counselor or our school administrators.

Forms to sign up to serve as a parent representative on FRMS Site Council/ESSA Committee will also be available during Open House. This is a two year commitment and Site Council/ESSA will meet about once a month after school this year.

FRMS will have our fall parent conferences on Wednesday, October 9th from 4 PM to 8 PM and Thursday, October 10th from 8 AM to Noon.illustration of a tree made of hands

Fern Ridge Middle School Picture Day is Thursday, September 12th. Informational packets were given to students during seventh period today.

Parents can also order on line at mylifetouch.com using the Picture Day ID F0529007Y0

For FRMS students and their families who enjoy supporting our EHS football team and attending their home games, here are some reminders from EHS.  Please take a minute to review these with your children before attending a game. Thank you!

Elmira High School Fans and Visitors

Welcome to Elmira High School and Swartz Field.  We hope your experience here is an enjoyable one.  Please refer to the spectator/visitor policies and information below that help ensure the enjoyment and safety of all fans in attendance at the game.

  • A “Youth Area” specifically for middle school age or younger students has been created at the NE end of the home grandstands. While sitting in the main grandstands or simply being with your parent/guardian is always an option for our younger fans, this seating area is specifically designated for younger students (adults beware) J so they can watch the game or socialize with their peers in a safe location.  Youth who are being unsafe or not following the directions of game management personnel, may:

  • Be asked to remain in the youth area for the remainder of the game.
  • Be required to stay with their parent/guardian for the remainder of the game.
  • Be asked to leave the game.
  • Lose the privilege of attending further EHS athletic events.

  • For all fans sitting in the home grandstands, please be courteous and remain seated so that all may see the game. In particular, there should be no standing at the “railing”.  If you enjoy standing to watch the game, the grandstands are not the best place to be.  A better option would be the west end-zone.

  • Please do not bring footballs into the game, as they cannot be thrown around.

  • At each end of the grandstands, and in several areas around the field, there are trash cans. Please be courteous to our custodial staff who stay late to clean the field and stadium by disposing of your trash.  Your help is appreciated.

  • Finally, it is a privilege to attend EHS athletic events, and as such, it can be taken away. Unsafe behavior, unsportsmanlike behavior, or behavior in general that is not appropriate for a school setting is NOT OK at athletic events.  Your help and support in this area is appreciated.

illustration of an owl on the phoneFRMS uses Remind for our text messaging services. Recently, Remind put a limit on their free service of 150 people for each class/group.  So instead of having one class/group for FRMS, we will break it into one  for each grade level. We are asking families of 6th graders to sign up for the 6th grade class/group and so on. If you have more than one student at FRMS, you only need to sign up for one class/group

The old “FRMS” group can no longer be used. Parents who want to receive text messages from FRMS, will need to sign up for one of the new groups.

Please click on the link below for information on how to sign up for that Remind group/class.

More information on Returning Student Registration coming soon.

Families registering students new to the Fern Ridge School District should bring a copy of their birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of residency. Proof of residency could be a rental agreement, utility bill, driver’s license with the Fern Ridge address, etc. We only need to see the proof of residency- we do not need a copy of it. If the student was on an IEP in their previous school district, a copy of that IEP would be really helpful and greatly appreciated.

There is a required $10 registration fee and a $6 fee for a P.E. shirt. If you would like to purchase a yearbook during registration the cost will be $16. We accept cash or check only- no credit cards will be accepted.

Thank you and welcome to Fern Ridge Middle School.
