On Thursday, you received a couple of handouts on “Why Study Another Language?” and “The Pain of Pluralism.” It was very interesting to see how hard English truly is and thinking about someone else learning it for the first time. Your homework this weekend is to write a free write (in paragraph or bullet point form) in English on the reasons you are taking this class (Spanish) and why you think it’s important to study another language (hopefully you do)/reflecting on how English is hard to learn–different perspective. We will discuss on Monday and begin our final version during class (will be getting our textbooks as well). Your poster and presentation will be on Tuesday, September 10th.
