Hot Seat Tuesday; Final exam Wednesday (Unidad 4.1-5.2)

On Friday, we reviewed what the final exam was going to be like and take test notes.  Then, we played Jeopardy in teams to help prepare for the final exam.  Don’t forget that the speaking part of your final exam is taking place on Tuesday (El Asiento Caliente).  It will cover the last two chapters of the semester since we already did a speaking part for the first three chapters.  Keep working hard. . . first semester is almost over!=)

p.120 activity 15 and p.127 workbook; writing piece due Wednesday; vocabulary quiz Thursday!

Today, we read about the grammar concepts on relative pronouns, and completed some of the final workbook pages this semester (will wrap it up tomorrow).  They were on p.120 activity 15 and p.127 in the workbook.  Then, we played “Around the world” as a vocabulary flashcard game to practice for our upcoming quiz on Thursday.  Don’t forget that the writing piece is due on Thursday (civilization or art piece).  Keep working hard!

pages 117-118 workbook; writing piece due on January 15th; vocabulary quiz next week

Today, we practiced with the vocabulary that we started before winter break (Unidad 5.1 and 5.2), and then went through what workbook pages should be done, what we will be doing and what we are crossing out or removing.  We discussed the writing piece options (about a civilization or art piece/artist), which we will share and turn in next Wednesday, January 15th.  We then worked on a review concept (demonstrative adjectives and pronouns) and completed pages 117 and 118 in the workbook (crossed off the second activity on p.118).  We reviewed p.117 during class today but will review p.118 tomorrow at the beginning of class.  I would recommend studying for your vocabulary quiz next week over both chapters’ words.  Keep working hard!

pages 116 and 124 workbook (on p.124, we cut out activity 8)

On Tuesday, we split up pages 116 and 124 workbook as a class and then shared our responses (the first activity on each page).  Then, the homework was to complete activity 8 on p.116 and we shared those on Wednesday.  We also practiced our holiday carols today, as we are going around the classrooms today to get them in the holiday spirit!  I would recommend studying the two vocabulary pages from 5.1 and 5.2 as well as organize notes over break so you are best prepared when you return from break as well as the final exam.

p.115 and p.123 workbook; project due Friday!

Last Friday, we completed p.115 in the workbook (5.1 vocabulary).  Today, we went through the “En Contexto” pages from both chapters (each student did a little from each section) to review in Spanish with a partner and review the English as a class (summary).  Then, we worked on p.123 in the workbook (5.2 vocabulary). . . we will review this on Wednesday.  Tomorrow is the last day in the computer lab to work on the project which is due this Friday, December 13th (presenting in the theater).

pages 349 and 371 vocabulary

Yesterday, we took our test over Unidad 4.3.  Then, we discussed how we were going to do the vocabulary this time (two lists, but English to Spanish).  These are the last two chapters of the semester which are on p.349 and p.371.  They are due by the end of the day tomorrow (Thursday, December 5th).  It will be another lab day tomorrow to work on the project!

Test notes today (H/O); test on December 3rd (speaking part tomorrow); workday on December 2nd in lab 10

Today, we are going to review and prepare for our upcoming test over Unidad 4.3 (take test notes, and you will receive a handout; complete practice activities or do a game).  Tomorrow, we will be in the lab and you will be completing the speaking portion of your test.  Then, next Monday will be another workday with the chapter test being on Tuesday, December 3rd.  Keep working hard!

Final project (first day in the lab today); vocabulary quiz Friday!

Earlier in the week, we finished “Tengo” and wrapped up activities from Unidad 4.3.  We have talked about the final project (you will receive a handout today) and today is the first day in computer lab 10 to work on it.  Tomorrow will be the vocabulary quiz over the words on p.321 (make sure you are here for your partner).  On Monday, we will be taking the test notes for the upcoming assessment on Monday, December 2nd.  On Tuesday, it will be another project workday as well as the speaking portion of your test (drawing a card/career and answering questions about it).  Keep working hard!

p.112 workbook (turning in workbook tomorrow); writing piece due tomorrow; Tengo

Today, we talked about and took notes on the future perfect tense.  We discussed the workbook page on 112 and students had half of the period to work on this workbook page (turning them in tomorrow after completing the listening activities), work on the writing piece that we will share tomorrow and create the “Tengo” sheet, which hopefully we can start playing tomorrow.  The vocabulary quiz is planned for next Friday, the 22nd, and we will discuss our final project next week and have our first workday for it in the computer lab.  Keep working hard!

pages 109-110 workbook; writing piece due next Friday

Today, we will review the bottom activity on p.108 and share what we learned about the different states that you chose.  Then, we will talk about stressed pronouns and complete pages 109-110 for Tuesday (on p.109, the top activity you are doing the he/she part, but then translating the sentence to English), and we are cutting out activity 11 on p.110.  We are also discussing writing piece topics today, which will be due next Friday, the 15th.  It would also be a good idea to study your vocabulary words and definitions from p.321.
