We are just a few days from the beginning of our first ever FRMS Summer Learning Camp. We are planning four weeks of fun and learning for our “campers.”
Important Reminders:
Dates: Monday – Thursday – July 12th – August 5th
Times: 9:30 am – 1:00 pm – Doors open at 9:15 am
Masks: Students will be required to wear masks on the bus and in the building. Click here for PPE and Mask Information for FRMS Summer Learning Camp.
Screening: Students will be screened prior to entering the building. All students will enter through the front entrance. Please help us keep our students healthy and safe by keeping your child home if they are sick.
Transportation: If your child is riding the bus to or from Summer Learning Camp, please double check pick-up and drop-off times: Summer Bus Routes
Dress: Every “camper” will be participating in field games so please make sure students dress in clothes they can run around and play in.
Enrollment: At this time, our Summer Learning Camp is full, but we are taking names for a waitlist if openings arise.
Families were contacted and registration confirmed by the FRMS office in June. If you are not sure if your child is registered, please feel free to call us at 541-935-8230 and we would be happy to check for you.
If you have not registered your child for our summer learning camp and would like them to attend, please call the office and we would be happy to add them to the waiting list.
In addition, if you registered your child but your plans have changed, please contact the office to let us know.
Summer Office Hours: FRMS Office will be open from 9:15 to 1:15 Monday thru Thursday July 12th thru August 5th. Our office phone is 541-935-8230.
Fern Ridge Middle School is proud to announce our 2020-2021 award winning students. Click on the link below for our slide show and find out which of our fabulous 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students earned awards this year.
Congratulations again to our 8th graders, both FRMS and Options. Click below to link to the slideshow that was shared at our promotion ceremony last night. The first half of the slide show are our “A Block” students and the second half are our “B Block” students.
Thank you to all of our families and 8th grade students for making our 2021 Promotion Ceremony a huge success. Thank you also to all of the FRMS staff members who worked behind the scenes and during the event to make sure it went smoothly.
Two things:
- If your FRMS Hybrid or Options student was not able to attend last night, we have their promotion certificate in the office. Please feel free to pick up certificates anytime before the office closes on June 25th.
- Each 8th grade Hybrid or Options students were given three promotio
n gifts on behalf of FRMS- Class of 2025 sunglasses, a customized pen, and a Class of 2025 lanyard- all in Elmira High School Purple. FRMS students should have received their sunglasses on their last day of school. Promotion participants received their pens and lanyards during the ceremony. Options students can pick up their sunglasses at FRMS before the 25th. Students who missed the ceremony can pick up their gifts when they pick up their certificates.
Congratulations again to the future high school class of 2025!

8th Grade Promotion Livestream
“A Block” Students 6:00
FRMS 8th Grade Promotion
“B Block” Students 7:45
Thank you to Sarah Wartenbee, Rick Gardner and James Monegan for helping us with livestreaming our promotion. Thank you to all of the FRMS staff who worked to make this year’s 8th grade promotion ceremony shine!
We are busy setting up the gym for 8th grade promotion tomorrow. We just want to remind our 8th grade families of the following:
Promotion is Wednesday, June 16th. “A” Block Students at 6:00 and “B” Block Students at 7:45.
Doors open 15 minutes before promotion.
Only two guests (whether parents, siblings, or other relatives) per a student and guests must have their tickets. Tickets will go home with students today and tomorrow.
Students and their guests will enter the gym directly from the patio entrance on the side of the building. Guests will sit in marked spots on the bleachers and students will sit with their classmates on the floor.
Facemasks required.
Socially distancing inside the gym- we have marked off where family pairs can sit.
The gym will be disinfected and cleaned between ceremonies.
Students do not have to “dress up” for promotion but the FRMS dress code still applies.
Families are welcome to park across the street at the district office or down Territorial at Elmira Elementary if the FRMS spaces are filled. Please do not park on the field.
We are hoping to be able to offer a “livestream” of the event. Stay tuned for more information tomorrow.
Fern Ridge Middle School said goodbye to our head secretary Tammy Eutsler today. Tammy leaves us to be the secretary at Elmira High School. We want to thank Tammy for her hard work and commitment to our school and our students. Tammy’s energy and enthusiasm kept our office on track and helped our whole school run smoother.
Replacing Tammy as our head secretary will be Shelby Humphrey. We are excited to have Shelby as part of our office staff and we know she will do an excellent job.
Great news! It looks like we are a go for our 8th grade promotion inside in the gym on Wednesday, June 16th. We will have two ceremonies, one for our “A Block” students at 6:00 PM and a second ceremony for our “B Block” students at 7:45 PM. This will give us time to clean and disinfect surfaces between ceremonies.
We will have to limit each student to just two guests in order to meet capacity limits. No exceptions. Tickets for their two guests will be given to 8th grade students closer to the ceremony.
Fern Ridge Middle School is excited to announce that we will be holding a Summer Learning Camp for targeted 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students from July 12th to August 5th, Monday thru Thursday, 9:30 to 1:00 Transportation will be provided and school lunch served. Participating students will each take four classes in their 3.5 hour day- Language Arts, Math, Field Games like Frisbee Golf and Field Hockey, and a Summer Fun Activity Class which could range from painting to orienteering to arts and crafts.
We are offering this opportunity to specific students first, students whose teachers have identified them as needing extra support following this difficult year. These could be students who found it difficult to work online, who have had a higher number of absences than usual due to the pandemic, and/or have not been performing in the classroom like we know they can and have in the past.
Students in this first group were either mailed home information about our Summer Learning Camp or emailed information about our Summer Learning Camp. If you received the invite and wanted to accept but have not called to let us know, it’s not too late- call us at 541-935-8230 to reserve your slot.
If you did not receive a priority invite, but would like your child to participate, we are now accepting reservations for our remaining open spaces on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to reserve a spot for your child, just click on and complete the online application.
