8th Grade Promotion

Great news! It looks like we are a go for our 8th grade promotion inside in the gym on Wednesday, June 16th. We will have two ceremonies, one for our “A Block” students at 6:00 PM and a second ceremony for our “B Block” students at 7:45 PM. This will give us time to clean and disinfect surfaces between ceremonies.

We will have to limit each student to just two guests in order to meet capacity limits. No exceptions. Tickets for their two guests will be given to 8th grade students closer to the ceremony.

FRSD Options students are welcome to participate in our promotion ceremony. We just ask that you give us a call to confirm your participation and plan on stopping by our school office on the 14th between 8 AM to 4 PM to pick up your guest tickets.

Guests will be seated on the bleachers and we ask each family group to social distance. Seats will be clearly marked to help you maintain a social distance. Students and staff will also be social distancing during the event. To help with the social distancing, students will participate in a processional into the gym. Instead they will come in with their guests and, while the guests go to sit in the bleachers, the students will find their spot on the floor.

Students and guests will walk around the building and use the patio entrance to the gym. Doors will open at 5:40. ALL GUESTS AND STUDENTS MUST WEAR MASKS INSIDE FERN RIDGE MIDDLE SCHOOL AT ALL TIMES.

No one will be allowed inside the building without a facial mask covering their chin, mouth, and nose.

While there will be no school sponsored dance or activity after the promotion ceremony, students will have a classroom pizza party on the afternoon of their last day.

Students who attend school in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays, are considered  “A Block” students. Students who attend school in person on Wednesdays and Fridays are considered “B Block” students. If your child attends everyday or is an OPTIONS or CDL student and you aren’t sure if they are A or B, give the office a call at 541-935-8230 and we will check for you. Because of the strict capacity limits, we cannot switch students from one ceremony to the other.
