It’s almost time to announce our 2019-2020 Student Awards. Awards are given by teachers in each subject at each grade level.drawing of a blue bird singing

For 8th Grade Students, we also have awards for students who maintained a GPA above 3.5 while at FRMS and students who had no detentions or referrals while at FRMS.

We also give out awards in two very special categories: Girl/Boy of the Year and Girl/Boy Outstanding Citizen at each grade level. Students for these awards are nominated by staff and voted on by staff. Outstanding Citizen is given to those students who not only meet our High Five Standards but far exceed them. Students who exemplify through their day in and day out actions what being a good Citizen is at FRMS.

The FRMS Girl/Boy of the Year is the top award given at each grade level. Students are nominated by staff and voted on by staff. These are students who excel in and out of the classroom at FRMS.

We are extremely proud of all of our award winning students and can’t wait to announce their names next week. Videos announcing the awards will go up per the following schedule:

6th Grade Tuesday, June 9th.

7th Grade Wednesday, June 10th.

8th Grade Thursday, June 11th

6th and 7th Grade students can pick up their awards by Friday, June 19th. If you cannot pick up your child’s certificate, please contact the office.

8th Grade students will be given their awards during the Drive Thru Promotion Thursday night when they pick up their promotion certificates.

Now that the official part of our distance learning is almost over, we need to collect the chromebooks that were checked out to students. Please make sure you return the chromebook with the cord that you were given- it helps us a lot if you can wrap the cord around the chromebook. You are welcome to bring back the chromebooks during our packet drop off Monday, June 8th from 8:00 to 2:30. You are also welcome to bring them to the school on Tuesday, June 9th from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

Thank you.

FRMS Staff

Don’t forget that library books and textbooks have to be returned to FRMS as well.

Just a reminder that our 8th Grade Drive Thru Promotion will be Thursday, June 11th from 5 PM to 7 PM. FRMS Staff will be waiting in our bus lane to congratulate and celebrate each of our 8th graders. At the end of the bus lane, there will be a staff member in masks and gloves to hand out promotion certificates and any awards.

To help keep traffic from backing up onto Territorial, we ask that families restrict themselves to one car per an 8th grader and follow these times:

5:00 to 5:30  Last names beginning with A to C

5:30 to 6:00 Last names beginning with D to H

6:00 to 6:30  Last names beginning with J to R

6:30 to 7:00 Last names beginning with S to Z

It’s here! FRMS’s first ever 5th Grade Fly Up Video! A huge thank you to all of the FRMS staff who participated and to Callie Johnson who put this all together. While we are sorry that we weren’t able to welcome fifth graders in person, we hope this video gives you information about our school and a glimpse of the amazing 6th grade year that is in store for you at FRMS.

Dependent on whatever COVID-19 related restrictions we are working under in August, FRMS hopes to hold a  6th Grade Registration Day/Evening at FRMS  that will include tours for students and their families.  We are also planning other activities to help welcome our new sixth graders and support their transition to middle school.

To stay in touch, incoming sixth grade parents are encouraged to sign up for our new 6th grade 2020-2021 Remind.com text messaging list

Incoming 6th grade families can sign up for FRMS website updates by subscribing to our website using the link on the lower right hand side. Subscribing means that you will automatically get emails of every new post on our website.

At FRMS, our primary way of communicating with families is through our website or through text messages.

Just a reminder that June 8th is the last day to return packets.

Friendly reminder to our FRMS families- Please make sure that any textbooks or library books that your child still has at home are returned before June 12th. They can be brought into the office or given to FRMS staff as part of our curbside service on Mondays when packets are picked up.

Families will be charged for textbooks and library books that are not returned, so please make sure to return them. Our librarian, Brenda Russell, has been calling and emailing families to remind them as well. If you aren’t sure if your child has a missing textbook or library book, contact the office at 541-935-8230.

It’s especially important for our 8th grade students to have their fees paid before they start at EHS. EHS students are not allowed to attend dances or participate in extracurricular activities if they have any unpaid fees.

FRMS office hours are Mondays to Fridays 8 AM to 2:30 PM. Our office will close for the summer on June 19th,

Update: We were notified this morning by Life Touch that our yearbooks will not be here in time to distribute to students in June. Life Touch had to shut down several processing plants due to the COVID-19 crisis. We will set up a day or days in August to distribute yearbooks. We are also looking into having a “yearbook signing” time when school opens again.

2019-20 Yearbooks are still on sale. We have about 30 copies left if families want to reserve those now.

Just a reminder that students will be receiving a fourth quarter grade of Pass or Incomplete only in Language Arts and Math. Students who receive an Incomplete will be given the opportunity to turn in work in the fall to bump their grades up to a pass. Since Social Studies, Science, and P.E. have been supplemental/optional students will not be receiving a grade for those classes. However we encourage families to turn in all completed packets for all subjects- teachers have been carefully reviewing returned packets to help determine which skills/concepts will need to be retaught and reviewed in the fall when we transition back into school.

No FRMS student will be retained or held back due to this crisis.

In order to give us time to  quarantine returned packets before they are reviewed by teachers, the last day to pick up or return packets will be Monday, June 8th. We will provide packets for that last week that will not have to be turned in. They will have more fun activities and suggestions/ideas for summer learning.

If your student is still working on packets on June 8th, we will definitely still accept those packets in the fall.
