8th Grade Update

Just an update for 8th grade families:

1. Promotion Slideshow– For our slideshow this year, we are asking families to share pictures of their 8th grade student that reveal their personality and/or interests. For example if your 8th grader has a pet that they adore, a picture of them with the pet would be great. If they have a hobby or an interest like horseback riding or painting or gardening, a picture of them involved in that hobby would also work fine. The only caveat is that we would like them to be front and center in that picture so we can see their smiling faces…. pictures of them at a distance or when they are part of a group won’t work. Pictures should be emailed to Marian French by June 2nd. Her email is mfrench@fernridge.k12.or.us
2. Promotion Ceremony- Families are invited to join us at 6:30 on Tuesday, June 14th for a promotion ceremony. In addition to celebrating all of our 8th graders, we will be recognizing individual student achievements.
3. 8th Grade students will have a full day field trip on the 14th. They will leave school by 8:45 for a celebration at the park followed by a pool party complete with a DJ and music. 8th grade parents have planned a lot of activities for the park and the pool. Thank you to the 8th grade parents, led by Jani Patrick, who are working hard to make the park and pool party fun for all of our 8th grade students.
4. There will be no dance this year. 8th grade students were given the opportunity to choose their promotion activity and chose the pool/park party instead.
5. If your 8th grade student attends FRSD OPTIONS, please contact the school to let us know if you want them included in the field trip or the promotion ceremony or both. These events are for current 8th grade FRMS and  8th grade FRSD OPTIONS students only.
6. 8th graders will have their yearbook signing on the 14th. There are a small number of yearbooks still available for sale in the office.
7. Participation in the 8th grade field trip is a privilege. Students whose behavior does not meet expectations in the weeks before the field trip, may be excluded from the field trip to the park and the pool June 14th.
8. The last day of school for 8^th grade students is June 14^th. 8^th graders do not come to school June 15^th-17^th.
9. 8th grade students and their families are invited to EHS Fly-Up Night on Tuesday, May 31st from 6 to 7:30 PM. This will be a great opportunity for families to meet high school staff and learn more about what high school life will be like.
