Practice with your new vocabulary (p.199 and p.221); p.75 and p.67 workbook

Yesterday, we went through the two “En Contextos” from Unidad 3.1 and 3.2 (Spanish and English–pages 180-181 and 202-203).  Then, we went over our new vocabulary words and how to pronounce them before turning them in (pages 199 and 221).  We also completed workbook page 75 during class on Thursday, and we will complete page 67 during class on Friday (both vocabulary pages).  We will practice with our new vocabulary words and play a game to help practice and start learning our new words.

pages 199 and 221 vocabulary due Thursday!

Today, after your group finished the culture part (written on paper), the vocabulary was assigned.  We are doing a double chapter this time, and they are on 199 and 221 in the book.  They are due at the end of the day on Thursday (January 30th).  Get off to a good start this semester and turn them in on time!

Prepare for your final exam on Thursday!

On Thursday, we turned in our workbooks after completing the final three activities during class and discussing double object pronouns (using a direct and indirect object pronoun together in the same sentence).  If you were absent, you are excused from those three activities since we went through it together as a class.  On Friday, we took test notes and discussed what the final exam is going to be like (vocabulary, grammar and culture).  Organizing your notes will be extremely helpful before you come to class on Thursday!  We will prepare for it on Tuesday when we play Jeopardy in teams.  Keep working hard as first semester is almost over!

Four boxes/pictures activity due today; workbook due tomorrow; organize your notes!

Today, we talked about what workbook pages should be done and what we will be doing during class tomorrow before submitting them.  Then, I gave you a little bit of time to complete your final draft of the four time periods in the past with visuals representing something you did yesterday, last year, etc.  We presented one sentence/visual to the class and then walked around and looked at everyone’s assignment (good job!).  Then, we played a Pictionary game with all of the words that you have learned this semester. . . I would organize your notes (if you haven’t done so already), since your final exam is coming up next week.  Keep working hard!

Review for tomorrow’s post assessment; p.55 workbook and four boxes/picture activity

Today, we went through some notes on exactly what tomorrow’s post assessment is going to look like. . . make sure you study these notes so you are best prepared to do well on it (20 point quiz grade).  Then, we looked at how we use the imperfect and preterite tenses in the same sentence through p.55 in the workbook (completed during class).  The final activity that we started working on was choosing four time periods in the past and coming up with a sentence in Spanish for it (last year, last week, yesterday, last night, etc.) and then drawing a visual to represent it.  We will share these on Wednesday (should be more time in class tomorrow to work on it).

pages 59-60 workbook due tomorrow (parts of them); pre-assessment tomorrow!

Today, we went through the new vocabulary words on p.147 and p.171 and then turned in the assignment (hopefully you can get it to me tomorrow if I did not receive it today).  Then, we went through the two “En Contexto” sections from our final two chapters of the semester (2.2 and 2.3).  After reviewing this, we discussed the vocabulary workbook activities that are due tomorrow and started it during class (pages 59 and 60–we crossed off the last activity on p.59 and the second activity on p.60 is optional for some extra bonus points).  We also discussed my deadline for any missing assignments and completing any retakes for the semester which is next Friday (January 17th).  Keep working hard!

pages 147 and 171 vocabulary due Tuesday, January 7th!; piñata project?

Yesterday and today, we took the test over Unidad 2.1.  Tomorrow, I will introduce the new chapters by going through the objectives and then students will have time to work on the two vocabulary pages (147 and 171).  They are due at the beginning of class when you return from break for full credit (Tuesday, January 7th)!  It would be a good idea to organize notes over winter break to prepare for the final exam as that will be upon us quickly (vocabulary, grammar and culture questions).  Aside from the two vocabulary pages to finish, there will be no written work over break unless you are behind on something or want to prepare for a retake when you get back from winter break.  However, if you are interested in doing the optional piñata project, I will discuss that more tomorrow as well (it takes awhile to dry which is why winter break is a perfect time to design and create one).  The requirements will include:  the history of the piñata (in English with sources cited) as well as why you chose that design and the steps you took to make it (combination of English and Spanish).  The due date for this is Friday, January 17th to present it.

Reviewed and turned in workbook today (listening pages); study Unidad 2.1!

Today, we reviewed the homework from the past couple of days (p.48 and p.45).  Then, we did some of the listening activities from pages 41-42 before turning them in (or by the end of the day to be considered on time).  Then, we went through the video that goes along with the curriculum to check for understanding.  We will be reviewing and preparing for our test next week over Unidad 2.1 (most likely on Wednesday and Thursday).  Keep working hard. . . winter break is just around the corner!

p.47 workbook

Today, we reviewed p.43 in the workbook.  I decided to save p.44 in the workbook for tomorrow since many had not completed it.  You were introduced to another past tense in Spanish called the “imperfect tense.”  You received a handout today over this tense and we practiced it during class.  Tomorrow, we will play “Tengo” with conjugating verbs in the imperfect tense as well as go over p.47 in the workbook (assigned today).

pages 43-44 workbook due Monday

Today, we finished going through our new vocabulary words on p.125 and the group that was in charge of the culture shared that information.  Then, we practiced with the vocabulary through activities 3 and 4 on p.111 (everyone was assigned one).  You got your workbooks back, and we discussed the two workbook pages that are due on Monday (all of p.43, and on p.44, your row was assigned a number from the first activity, and then you only have to describe two people in the second activity–one male and one female.  You can get bonus points for doing all three!).  Keep working hard!  Don’t forget that there is another progress report coming out on Monday, so if you have any missing assignments/project or retakes to complete, please finish by the end of the day Friday.
