p.23 workbook

Today, we went through our new objectives and vocabulary list on p.73 as well as the “En Contexto” part in Spanish and English.  Then, half of the period was used as a workday (vocabulary due by the end of the day, and p.23 workbook was assigned today–initial vocabulary page).  Make sure you stay on top of things as the quarter ends next week!

p.73 vocabulary due Monday!

After the test, p.73 vocabulary was assigned and it’s due by the end of the day on Monday.  If you haven’t finished the test, make sure you find time to finish it before or after school or during a study hall class.  The quarter ends in less than two weeks, so keep working hard on everything in call of your classes.

Unidad 1.1 test today and tomorrow!

Today, you will be taking the first four sections of your test (A-D).  Then, you will practice conjugating verbs through a game as these four sections of your test will be taking place tomorrow (E-H).  Hopefully you took the test notes on Tuesday to best be prepared and see me if you have any questions.  Keep working hard!

pages 17-18 workbook (turn in tomorrow); study for countries and capitals quiz (Wednesday)!

Today, we took notes on what happens in the “yo” form of some irregular past tense verbs (ending in –car, –gar and –zar).  Then, we went over pages 17-18 in the workbook (the assigned activities and adjustments that were made).  They are due tomorrow, and we will be turning them in tomorrow as well (after doing a few of the listening activities).  Then, we practiced with the countries and capitals to prepare for Wednesday’s quiz (you will get a list of capitals to help with spelling, but you need to know what country they go with and where to locate it on the map).  Keep working hard during this short week!

p.19 workbook; study countries and capitals!

Today, we took notes on several irregular verbs (ir, ser, hacer, dar and ver) and you received a “Tengo” sheet which also was including a regular –ar, –er and     –ir verb so there 42 different possibilities.  We discussed one from each on p.19 in the workbook which we will review tomorrow before playing “Tengo” and a game/practice with countries and capitals.  You also received (for practice/study guide) a blank map of Central and South America along with the ones in the Caribbean.  You need to know which country goes with which capital and be able to place it on a map.  This quiz will take place next Wednesday, October 9th.

pages 15-16 workbook (parts of them)

Today, we reviewed pages 13-14 during class (which were in-class and homework assignments if you did not finish during class).  Today, we discussed the past tense (preterite) which we took notes on and you received a handout at the beginning of the year.  We practiced with this concept and discussed workbook pages 15-16 which we will review on Thursday (complete activities 10 and 12, and then you choose one from 11, 13 or 14–five complete sentences in Spanish about the fiesta or the viaje).  We also played a game to practice the Spanish-speaking countries and their capitals.

Spanish-speaking countries H/O; p.13 workbook; study new vocabulary p.51; anything missing?

Today, we went over the Spanish-speaking countries handout before submitting it (there should be 18 total on the word search–write the country and capital below).  We listened to some songs to help you out to hopefully memorize and start learning where they are located and which country goes with each capital (see below for the link).  I know some of you found the song “annoying” as it’s a little repetitive, but it helps you practice and learn them.  You will be assessed in the next couple of weeks on them (map quiz).  Then, we did the “En Contexto” and completed workbook p.13 during class and went over it so there is no new homework for Spanish this weekend.  It’s always good to start learning and practicing your new words (p.51).  However, if you are missing anything, it would be a good idea to turn that in on Monday.

p.51 vocabulario

Today, you took your test.  If you are absent, please make sure to find a time when you can come in to complete it this week.  Your next vocabulary was assigned on p.51 (not optional this time).  It is due at the beginning of class on Thursday.

Etapa Preliminar exam on Tuesday!

Today, we took test notes and have been reviewing the concepts from this initial chapter over the past couple of days through games.  Be sure to have good notes to be best prepared!    Your test will be on Tuesday, September 24th.

pages 7-8 workbook (due yesterday); pages 9-10 workbook (turn in tomorrow)

Yesterday, workbook pages 7-8 were assigned and we went over during class today (conjugating verbs).  Today, we practiced some of the review concepts through some communication activities and then discussed and worked on the last two pages in your workbook for this chapter (9-10).  Remember, there are corresponding pages in the book or at the back of your workbook to help you complete the workbook pages/activities.  See me if you have questions or need some extra help/practice.  We will be completing the listening pages during class tomorrow and reviewing the homework before submitting it.  Please make sure you are off to a good start and are ready to turn it in tomorrow!
