Dear Parents,

Oregon law requires students in grades 7-12 receive a Tdap vaccination. The Tdap combines protection against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough). Even if your student is currently in distance only learning the State of Oregon is requiring proof  of the Tdap vaccine before the February exclusion date.  In reviewing the immunization records for all students there are a number of students who do not have the required Tdap vaccination. If your student has not received the Tdap vaccination, make an appointment with your provider or the Lane County Public Health Department to get the Tdap vaccine.  Middle School is also a good time to check in with your provider about other vaccinations that are recommended.

Exclusion Day is February 19th.

Please  be sure to bring the record of the Tdap vaccination to the school to be added to the student’s record. Also check the list below with your student’s immunization records to make sure your student is up to date on all of their vaccinations.  Letters will be sent out soon to students that the school does not have complete vaccination records. It is important to get the vaccinations and bring the records to the school as soon as possible.

New vaccination required for 7-12 grade

1 Tdap

Vaccinations required for K- 12

2 doses of Hepatitis A

5  doses of Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis (DTaP) (these are different from the Tdap that is

required for 7-12th grade)

4 Polio

1 Varicella (chickenpox)

2 MMR or 2 Measles, 1 Mumps, 1 Rubella

3 Hepatitis B

Thank you,

Nurse Teresa

A reminder to our FRMS Hybrid families that first quarter ends November 13th for students in the FRMS Hybrid program. Students should be checking with their teachers to see if they have any missing or incomplete assignments, which assignments they can still turn in, and what the deadline for that class is.

First quarter report cards will be mailed home Friday, November 20th.

Families can also check Home Access and Google Classroom for updates on assignments and grades. Teachers can also be reached by phone or by email if you had questions about a specific class or subject.

Click here for a list of teacher extension and emails.

The FRMS PBIS Committee is happy to announce that we are extending the deadline for our Virtual Halloween Costume Contest and expanding it to include students in the FRSD Options program, if they would like to participate. We are changing the deadline to 3 PM on Monday, November 2nd. This will also give students who are still organizing their costumes a chance to participate. Entries may be emailed to their teachers or to hhohnstein@fernridge.k12.or.us.

Entries should include the following information: Student first and last name; Type of costume: (skeleton, Sponge Bob, etc) so we know how to label it, and whether it is homemade or store bought. There will be prizes for the most creative, best store bought, and best home made costumes. Pictures will be collected into a slide show that will be posted via Google Classroom so that students can vote for their favorites next week.

By sending in a picture, you are consenting for that picture to be posted to the Google Classrooms and shared with both Options and FRMS students.  Please call us if you have any questions.

Thank you to all of our PBIS Committee members for making our Virtual Halloween Costume Contest happen.

Greetings students and parents of 6th-8th grade students (both FRMS and OPTIONS)

To improve the usability and security of our student’s computer accounts, students will be prompted to set new passwords on their district account. That prompt will go out first thing Thursday morning (Oct 29th). Beginning Thursday morning, when students log into their chromebook or google account with their current password they will be asked to create a new password to continue.

Students should choose a password they can remember, write it down and store it somewhere safe. They will need that new password to log in, and are responsible for remembering it and keeping it secure.

Students who do lock themselves out of their accounts can get their passwords reset by calling the school directly or by calling the student tech support line at 541-952-7030.

NOTICE:  We have completed this process for H.S. students already, and will be moving to a similar process for elementary students at some point next week.

Hello Parents,

We recognize that creating a safe learning environment is a critical part of helping each child achieve academic success. This year we will introduce the Safe Oregon Tip Line, a new system that students can use to report school safety threats. Safe Oregon will give your child another medium for communicating with our school administration when school safety incidents occur.

How does the Safe Oregon Tip Line Work?

Students can access the Safe Oregon system through the line below or they may go directly to the safeoregon.com web site. Tips can be submitted through the web form on the Safe Oregon web site, or by text, email, live call, and mobile app.

Why is there a need for a tip line system?

The number one reason why children do not report is the fear of retaliation from their peers. The Safe Oregon Tip Line can be access from the privacy of a phone, home computer, or other Internet equipped device, eliminating the possibility of being identified by another student and thus, increasing the likelihood that a school safety threat would go unreported.

I encourage you to learn more about the Tip Line by visiting the Safe Oregon website at www.safeoregon.com

You can also email at tip@safeoregon.com or call/text  844-472-3367.

Thank you,

Olivia Johnson

FRMS will hold parent conferences via Zoom or by phone on Monday the 26th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday the 29th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. If you have not yet called the office to schedule your appparent-teacher conferences graphicointment(s) please do so before 3 PM on Monday the 26th. Conferences will be by appointment only this year. You are welcome to meet with just one teacher, a few teachers, or all of your student’s teachers.

At 3:30 on Monday we will post the Zoom Conference links on this website. You will need to click the link for the teacher(s) that you have scheduled at the time your conference is scheduled for. Once you click the link, you will access the “waiting room” for that Zoom Conference. Just like traditional parent conferences, you may have to wait in the waiting room for the teacher to let you in.

Once you finish one conference, you will have to return to this website for the link to your next conference.

If your conference time ends and you still have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask the teacher for a second meeting.

Thank you for your continued support.

Logo for Connect Oregon StudentsWe found a resource that we want to share with our families. It’s called Connect Oregon Students. Students can sign up for online tutoring in a range of subjects. Tutors will communicate through email and provide students with explanations and help via photo or video attachments or text explanations. Students can also sing up for Peer Support that will provide them with someone to talk to and connect with.

If you missed our Virtual Open House, you can still watch videos created by classroom teachers. In these videos our teachers introduce themselves, talk about what they teach, and let you know in general about their classroom procedures. You can find the links to all of these videos below or on the right side of this website under 2020 Open House Videos.
