Summer Updates

Due to construction, the playground, track, and fields will be off-limits to the public. Fences will be going up in the next few days. Please help us keep everyone safe by steering clear of the construction zone our school will be this summer.

Here are some great things for kids to do over the summer:

All children and youth ages 2-18 are welcome to come and have a free meal at the FOOD for Lane County’s Summer Food Program sites.  Designated sites in the Fern Ridge area are: Veneta City Park, 25192 Broadway, Veneta – 6/22/15-8/21/15 and Elmira Open Bible Church, 88899 Territorial Road, Elmira –  7/20/15-7/24/15 only.  For more detailed information please click here.

All About Art will host a summer program at the Veneta Community Center integrating art and science. There will be two sessions. Bats, Bugs, Frogs, and Bogs will run from July 6th to July 16th  and Night Creatures will run July 20th to July 30th. Each session students will learn about the natural world around them. In addition to learning, they will also create art projects  like bat mobiles or paint t-shirts or sketch in a wildlife sketch book. These workshops are being taught by local artists and educators Annette Rothweiler and Alex Lanham. The two week sessions start run from 8:30 to Noon. Your child also has the option after the session to get a free lunch at the summer lunch program. The cost is only $45 per a session. Information about the program was sent home with the students May 18th. Space is limited. Scholarships are available. They will even provide healthy snacks. Applegate Regional Theater is hosting a Summer Drama Camp from August 3rd thru August 27th. Cost is $200 for a 4 week session. Call 541-9352-3636 or email art-inc@hotmail.com for more information.

Fern Ridge Community Library’s Summer Reading Program: Sign ups start June 12th. Programs for children are every Tuesday at 1:30 including a magician June 23rd. Students who participate can earn a free t-shirt and a chance at other great prizes. Call 541-9355-7512 fo rmore information.
