Put This On Your CalendarHere is a run down of events happening at Veneta the last week of school:

Monday, June 16th:

The Veneta Elementary School Choir will be performing for students and families at 8:30 and 9:00. The performance will last approximately 25 minutes. Thank you to Mrs. McGuire for her dedication and hard work leading the school choir this year and to the students for making it a success through their time and energy.

Tuesday, June 17th:

8:10 First Grade Literacy Book  Project. Thanks to the generosity of the Rotary Club of Fern Ridge, each of our first grade students will receive a book bag and a book of their own. This the third year that our local Rotary Club has made this event happen. The excitement on the face of each first grade student when they open up their bags to see which book they’ve received is priceless. Thank you Rotary! You are amazing!

12:15 Award Assembly 3rd through 5th grade, 1:00 PM Kindergarten thru 2nd grade. AM Kindergarten parents should check with Mrs. Modee for a date/time.

1:30   Cougar Recess- Those students whose good behavior has earned them this reward will enjoy an all school recess.

Wednesday, June 18th:

8:10 to 8:40 Yearbook or autograph book signing.

8:50 to 10:31 Field Day for AM Kindergarten, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.

10:30 to 12:00 Family/Community BBQ. Please join us to celebrate the end of another great year at Veneta Elementary. Times and information about purchasing tickets will go home next week.

12:11 to 1:51 Field Day for PM Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students.

The afternoon of June 18th 5th grade students will enjoy an end of the year field trip to the Veneta Pool. Thank you to the city of Veneta and to our parent group PALS for making this fun event possible.

Thursday, June 19th:

8:30  Fifth Grade Promotion: Our promotion ceremony for fifth grade students will start promptly at 8:30. In addition to presenting our fifth grade students with certificates of achievement there will be speeches by selected students, a performance by the school choir, and the announcement of our Volunteer of the Year. The ceremony will last 30 to 45 minutes. Following the initial ceremony, there will be our traditional fifth grade slide show and a reception in the classrooms featuring cake and punch for fifth grade students and their families. Thank  you to PALS for providing the cake/refreshments and for helping to decorate the gym for promotion.

Dress Code Note: Students are not required to dress up for fifth grade promotion. If your child wants to, please remember that our dress code applies. This means that girls are not allowed to wear dresses with spaghetti straps  or strapless dresses unless they are wearing a jacket, shrug, shawl, or sweater as well. High heels are also not allowed. If you have any questions about the dress code for promotion, please check our handbook, call the school, or ask your child’s teacher.

2:05- For the first time in at least seven years, the last day of school is a full day of school. Dismissal will be 2:05 and buses will depart at 2:10. 5th grade parents who want to take their child home after the fifth grade reception must sign them out at the office. Report cards will be mailed home next week.

Also our annual Skate World Party is June 12th from 6:00 to 8:00. Students and their families are invited to join us for free skating at Skate World in Gateway. Regular skates are free but there is a small charge for inline skates.
