cat reading

Reading is one of the most important skills children need to develop in order to be successful adults. Parents can make a huge difference by helping their children build their reading skills at home.   VES is sponsoring an informational parent night focusing on reading October 15th from 6:30 – 7:30 PM featuring simple yet effective strategies that parents can use at home. Child care will be provided, however the workshop is intended for adults. Refreshments will be served. The evening will feature presentations by Dr. Jill Schwimmer a reading specialist and Heather Sears the youth librarian from the Fern Ridge Library. We will also provide you with information about websites and online resources that you and your child can explore together.

All VES parents are invited to attend. For planning purposes, it would be helpful if parents preregistered by emailing pehlers@fernridge.k12.or.us.  You can also contact Mrs. Ehlers at Veneta Elementary School at 541-935-8225.

This promises to be an informative and helpful evening for parents. We hope that everyone will come and learn effective ways to help their child master this very important lifelong skill.
