Fern Ridge School District is looking for 3 community members who are NOT officers, agents or employees of the district to serve on our budget committee.

The budget committee will begin work on the important job of reviewing our 2020-2021 budget soon.  Currently there are three open positions:

 

 

Position #2 (Term expires 6/30/2022)

Position #4 (Term expires 6/30/2022)

Position #5 (Term expires 6/30/2022)

While the time commitment is minimal, there are a maximum of three meetings in the spring of 2020, the contribution you would be making to the future of fern ridge students is invaluable.

To be eligible for appointment the successful applicants must live in the district and not be an officer, agent or employee of the district.  Applications are available by clicking HERE.  Applications will be received at the District Office until the positions are filled.

A public meeting of the Budget Committee of the Fern Ridge School District 28J, Lane County, State of Oregon, to discuss the budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020, will be held at the District Administration Office at 88834 Territorial Rd in Elmira, Oregon. The meeting will take place on Tuesday May 21, 2019 at 6:30 PM. The purpose of the meeting is to receive the budget message and to receive comments from the public on the budget. This is a public meeting where deliberation of the Budget Committee will take place. Any person may appear at the meeting and discuss the proposed programs with the Budget Committee. A copy of the budget document may be inspected or obtained on or after May 8, 2019 at the District Administration Office, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The meeting will take place on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 6:30 PM. The purpose of the meeting is to receive the budget message and to receive comments from the public on the budget. This is a public meeting where deliberation of the Budget Committee will take place. Any person may appear at the meeting and discuss the proposed programs with the Budget Committee. A copy of the budget document may be inspected or obtained on or after May 9, 2018 at the District Administration Office, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

In the coming months the Fern Ridge School District will begin the process of bargaining a successor agreement with the Fern Ridge Education Association (FREA), to the one that is currently in place for our certified staff (teachers.)  The current agreement expires June 30, 2018.

The District looks forward to working together with our teaching staff through this process.  The Superintendent and School Board have identified 3 goals to help guide the District.  They are:

  1. The District will participate as a partner with the Fern Ridge Education Association (FREA) in these complex negotiations.
  2. Given the importance of this new labor contract and the overall impact of labor costs to the District’s budget, the District will devote the time and resources necessary to secure a labor contract which is responsive to the public’s immediate and long-term interest.
  3. The District will negotiate a labor contract which addresses legitimate employee concerns and seeks to continue to maintain good labor relations.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 6:30 PM. The purpose of the meeting is to receive the budget message and to receive comments from the public on the budget. This is a public meeting where deliberation of the Budget Committee will take place. Any person may appear at the meeting and discuss the proposed programs with the Budget Committee. A copy of the budget document may be inspected or obtained on or after May 17, 2017 at the District Administration Office, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Fern Ridge School Dsitrict 28J is accepting applications to fill a vacant Budget Committee position.  The following position is open:  Position #1 (Expires 6/30/17).  To be eligible for appointment, the appointive member must 1) live in the district; and 2) not be an officer, agent or employee of the district.  Applications are available here or at the District Office, 88834 Territorial Road, Elmira.  The applications will be received at the District Office until opening is filled.

This is the public meeting where deliberation of the Budget Committee will take place. Any person may appear at the meeting and discuss the proposed programs with the Budget Committee. A copy of the budget document may be inspected or obtained on or after May 12, 2016 at the District Administration Office, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
