We collaborate with our community partners to review and enhance the District’s safety practices, emergency readiness and response.

Emergency Planning & Preparedness
-
In preparation for emergencies, FRSD has implemented the Standard Response Protocol (SRP).
-
Fern Ridge School District students and staff are instructed on emergency procedures so that everyone can respond to an emergency without confusion or panic. All students and staff drill the emergency procedures several times each year. The following drills are conducted each school year:
- Monthly Fire Drills
- Two Earthquake Drills
- Two Lockdown Drills
- Two Secure Drills
-
Emergency Notification Process: FRSD utilizes several different methods to communicate out to families in the event of emergencies. We reach out to parents & guardians mainly via ParentSquare and FlashAlert. We also use phone dialer messages.
Contact information is collected during registration, and can be updated at any time in the school office.
-
Events may occur at school that require parents to pick up their students in a controlled release. The process of controlled release is called a reunification and may be necessary due to weather, a power outage, a hazmat issue, or if a crisis occurs at the school.
Student and Parent Reunification is a protocol that makes this process more predictable and less chaotic for all involved. Because a controlled release is not a typical end of school day event, a reunification may occur at a different location than the school a student attends. If this location is another school, then those students may be subject to a controlled release as well.
The district will communicate the reunification location to parents and guardians; it is important that parents keep their contact information up to date, including a cell phone designated as a mobile number, in their students’ records. Information may also be shared through the district and/or school website, social media and the news media.
Parents are asked to NOT respond to a school site until they are notified of the reunification location.
Standard Response Protocol
Fern Ridge School District is using the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) to enhance and standardize our emergency response procedures. This protocol provides a clear and consistent framework that encompasses a range of potential emergencies, including but not limited to natural disasters, security threats, and other critical incidents. This protocol includes specific actions and responses for different emergency scenarios, ensuring that all students and staff members are well-prepared and informed about how to react in the event of an emergency.
