Dear Parents:

All of us at Elmira Elementary School are deeply saddened by the death of one of our students, Hunter Heineman. Our condolences go out to Hunter’s family and friends during this very difficult time. There are no perfect words to express our sadness for Hunter’s family.

Hunter was an amazing and spunky little guy whose smile could light up a room. He will be so missed by everyone who knew him. The Fern Ridge School District, along with support from outside agencies,  will do our very best to support all of the students and staff at Elmira Elementary who loved him very much.

During the day tomorrow, numerous counselors and psychologists will available to meet and talk with students, assisting them in dealing with their grief. We will also have assistance available for any staff or parents that need it. Support from counselors will continue to be available for our students.

Donations for the family can be made at https://www.gofundme.com/4wz8z7-funds-for-hunter.

We would like to thank all of our parents, FRSD staff, and community members for their support during this difficult time. At this time, we ask that you trust in the support plan that we have in place and do your best to help make your child’s transition to and from school as natural as possible. If you are interested in volunteering in any way, please contact me at mmarshall@fernridge.k12.or.us and I can help coordinate all of our efforts.

Please contact me if the school staff can be of further assistance to you.

Sincerely,

Michelle Marshall

As we are approaching winter break, I would like to thank students, families, and staff for contributing to the Fern Ridge community that we are all so proud to be part of.

We have had an outstanding first few months with many opportunities for our students. From spirit days and assemblies to fundraisers and family nights, Elmira Elementary has been a busy place. A huge thank-you to all of the staff and volunteers who have made these opportunities possible.

The FRSD Vision is the we “Provide excellence for every student so that each will reach their greatest potential.” And our big picture goal is to “Partner with District personnel, parents, and the community to ensure that we provide excellence in every classroom for every student every day.” This is no easy task and I am so thankful for all of the wonderful people that help make this happen day in and day out.

I encourage all parents to stay connected with the school as we know that your involvement has a positive impact on student learning and social well-being. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s education.

HAVE A WONDERFUL BREAK!

School resumes Wednesday, January 3rd– this is an Early Release (12:45pm) day.

School and District Report Cards
The Oregon Department of Education produces yearly report cards for schools and districts. These reports were mandated by the 1999 state legislature and provide educators with an opportunity to communicate directly with parents and community members about how local schools are performing.

In 2013, the Oregon Department of Education released a redesigned school and district Report Card. This redesigned Report Card was the product of a year of review and revisions, led by an external Report Card Steering Committee and informed by feedback from thousands of stakeholders around the state.

The goals of the redesign were to:

  • More accurately reflect student learning and growth
  • Incorporate key measures of college and career readiness
  • Align the report card with district’s achievement compacts
  • Make the Report Cards more user friendly and accessible

For more information on the school and district report cards please visit: http://oregon.gov/ode/schools-and-districts/reportcards/reportcards/Pages/default.aspx.

The link to the report cards page for all schools in Oregon, can be found under the Parents link here on the FRSD website.
