pages 195 and 217 vocabulary due Thursday

Today, after your group finished the culture part (written on paper), the vocabulary was assigned.  We are doing a double chapter this time, and they are on 195 and 217 in the book.  They are due at the end of the day on Thursday (January 30th).  Get off to a good start this semester and turn them in on time!

Prepare for your final exam on Wednesday!

On Friday, we reviewed what the final exam is like through some test notes.  It will cover vocabulary, grammar and culture from first semester (seven chapters).  Organizing your notes will be extremely important to help you out on your exam on Wednesday (100 question scantron).  On Tuesday, we will play Jeopardy in teams that will help you prepare for the final exam. . . keep working hard as you will get a break soon when first semester ends.

Practice with “ir + a + infinitive” and telling time; course evaluation; organize your notes!

Today, we practiced with saying what someone is going to do (a “future” expression) on p.153.  Then, you filled out a course evaluation to hopefully give me good feedback on how to make second semester better for you.  Then, we played a Pictionary game with all of the words that you have learned this semester (will continue that tomorrow).  Organize your notes as your final exam is next week!  Keep working hard!

Handout–telling time

Today, we took notes on how to tell time in Spanish and practiced in partners and as a class with different scenarios (It is. . . versus. . . At. . . ), including activity 9 on p.132.  Then, we did an in-class assignment with 12 different clocks and writing out the different times in Spanish (half with “It is” and the other half with “At” a particular time).  We reviewed and turned in this handout at the end of class.

Vocabulary handout/conjugating –er/–ir verbs

Today, we went through the “En Contexto” from the final two chapters we are doing this semester (Unidad 2.2 and 2.3).  We also did a couple of communication activities to practice conjugating –ar verbs (review) and vocabulary from 2.3.  You then received a double-sided handout and we talked about the vocabulary portion is due tomorrow (started it during class) and we will work on the other side of it tomorrow after we take notes on conjugating –er and –ir verbs.  We will review that part of the handout on Thursday and turn it in at the beginning of class to be considered on time.  We also went through some deadlines for turning in missing assignments and completing any retakes for the semester (next Friday, January 17th).  Keep working hard!

pages 143 and 167 vocabulary due by the end of the day Friday!

This past Tuesday and Wednesday, we took the test over Unidad 2.1.  Today, we introduced the new chapters by going through the objectives and then students had time to work on the two vocabulary pages (143 and 167).  They are due at the end of the day tomorrow for full credit!  I recommended today that it would be a good idea to organize notes over winter break to prepare for the final exam as that will be upon us quickly (vocabulary, grammar and culture questions).  There will be no written work over break unless you are behind on something or want to prepare for a retake when you get back from winter break.

Handout vocabulary game (partners)–Unidad 2.1; prepare for next week’s test!

Today, we did some practice with the end of the chapter activities on pages 118-119.  Then, in partners, you practiced your vocabulary on p.121 before we started our vocabulary partner game (word search/fill-in-the blank) worksheet.  If you did not finish today or were absent, please be ready to turn it in on Monday.  We will be taking our test over Unidad 2.1 on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.  Make sure you have good notes and are prepared to do a good job before winter break!

In-class assignment (activities 12 and 13 on p.112)

Today, we went over the homework that was assigned last week (p.109 activity 7 with adjectives).  Then, we discussed placement in the sentence of certain words like “mucho,” “siempre,” etc.  We then did activities 12 and 13 on the same piece of paper as the homework before submitting it today (if you were gone, make sure you complete these activities to receive the credit).  It is more practice with conjugating verbs and understanding placement of certain phrases within a sentence.  Then, I explained the “Tengo” game we are going to play tomorrow (conjugating verbs in the boxes with the eight selected on the board).  We will finishing preparing our “Tengo” sheets tomorrow before beginning the game and just general practice with conjugating verbs and understanding this important concept.

p.109 activity 7 due Monday (with adjectives to describe classes)

Today, practiced with our new vocabulary through activities 3 and 4 on p.107 and reviewed as a class.  Then, we took notes on conjugating regular -ar verbs (can be found on p.109), and then went around the room and practiced conjugating the different –ar verbs in the various forms (I, you, he/she, we, they, etc.).  The homework was assigned which is due on Monday.  It is activity 7 on p.109 (refer to p.108 if you aren’t sure what class they are wanting you to use because it has visuals for you).  Make sure you include an adjective in (  ) to describe that class as well (easy, hard, boring, interesting, good, bad, etc.–in Spanish, sticking to adjectives we have learned and making it agree in number and gender with the school subject.)  If you look at the model example, it says, <<Elena estudia historia.>> Then, you would put an adjective that best fits history class (buena, mala, etc.).  If you don’t have that class right now, you would put (No la tengo.).  We will review this activity on Monday.  Don’t forget that there is another grade check and I need any missing assignments/projects/retakes completed by the end of the day tomorrow if you want it reflected on this progress report.  Keep working hard!

p.121 vocabulary–completed during class today; family tree project due 12/3!

Today, after reviewing activity 5 from the end of chapter review on pages 90-91 and correcting your papers (hopefully), the next vocabulary was assigned on p.121.  It is due by the end of the period. . . shouldn’t be a problem if you stayed on task the whole time (if you didn’t finish, get it turned in as soon as possible).  Don’t forget if you want a couple of bonus points, draw four pictures and add color to it.  And, the family tree project is due on Tuesday, December 3rd, with a presentation.
