Information Update: Schedule Changes/Registration/Parking Lot/Class Lists

As we get closer to the start of another fabulous school year, here are some important updates for parents/families:

Registration:

New Students/Kindergarten Students Wednesday, August 19 from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM in the LCC classroom at EHS. The LCC classroom is located behind the EHS office. Call 541-935-8200 ext. 281 for more information. Parents of returning students who did not return their updated registration forms in June must also register their student for school.

Class Lists:

Class lists will be posted at Veneta Elementary Tuesday, September 1st. We had originally hoped to have them posted on Monday, August 31st. However that is the first day we will be back in the building and we expect to be very busy reopening the office. The office will be very busy that day with unpacking, settling into our new spaces, etc. We will post class lists that day, but it will probably be later rather than sooner. Come by on Tuesday, September 1st and we promise the  class lists will be posted and most of the dust cleared.

Schedule changes:

• 7:30 AM Doors Open. Students should not arrive before 7:30 AM. There is no supervision for students and they will not be allowed into the building.
• 7:50 Tardy Bell Rings
• 7:55 Classes Start. Students must be in class by 7:55. They will be marked tardy if they are not in class by 7:55 AM. Please help your child get a great start to their day by getting to school on time.
• 2:25 Regular Dismissal (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays)
• 12:45 Early Dismissal on Wednesday

Construction Impact/Parking Lot:

We expect construction on the front entrance, the new cafeteria, and the new wing of classrooms to continue through December. Areas of the parking lot and the side of the school where the new wing is going will be fenced off for construction/equipment. This means that we will have fewer parking spaces this school year. As you can imagine, this is going to impact our parking lot.  You can help us keep students safe by remembering the following:

1. The lane closest to the school is for buses and staff only. With parents and students crossing between the parked cars and students using the sidewalk, we need to keep cars from driving through this area when students are present.
2. Parents can use the spaces in the lane nearest Territorial to park. Students can be dropped off at the marked crosswalk.
3. Please make sure that students who are dropped off use the crosswalk. Unless they are walking with a parent, do not allow students to cut between cars to cross the parking lot.
4. Students who are walking should stay on the sidewalk or on the designated path in the areas where the sidewalk has been blocked.
5. Please remind your child to steer clear of any construction supplies, equipment, etc.

By next school year construction will be finished and a separate bus loop will improve our parking lot. In  the meantime, our parking lot this fall will be a little more hectic. Please help us by prioritizing student safety and following the guidelines above.
