Parking Lot Changes at VES! Important

It’s here! The bus loop that we have all looked forward to for the last year is being finished as I type this. That means some major changes to our parking lot will take place. With the buses out of the way, we will be designating a drop off lane where parents can drop off their students right at the school sidewalk. No more having students cross the parking lot to get to the school. The drop off lane will come in from Territorial to the front of the school where there will be a drop off point. We ask that parents pull forward and drop off at the drop off point which will be designated with a sign. Please make sure students exit cars on the curbside.

Parents who want to park and come in to the building should use parking spaces along the lane closest to Territorial or the parking spaces along the fence on the south side of the parking lot. Parents who park and walk their child into the building are responsible for making sure their child safely crosses the parking lot. Parents are encouraged to hold the hand of younger students and make sure that older students do not rush ahead.

In the afternoon, to ensure student safety we ask that all parents picking up their children park their cars and wait in front of the school for their child’s class. We also want to remind parents not to take their child without letting the classroom teacher know.

The parking spaces in front of the cafeteria and in the lane closest to the school are reserved for staff parking only.

And finally, our new bus loop is for buses only. Parents should not park in the bus loop.

We appreciate parents taking the time to review the parking lot rules and then following them when school starts. When everyone follows our guidelines, the parking lot becomes a safer place for all of our students and their families.
