Off to a great start……

We are off to a great start of what promises to be a great school year. It’s been exciting to see all of your children again and see how much they have grown up over the summer. Thank you to all of our students, families, and just some quick updates

1. Thank you to all of our parents today who used our new drop-off lane. We received a lot of positive feedback from parents who appreciated the separate lane and being able to drop students off right at the curb. Just a reminder to please pull forward to the sign and drop students off at the sign.
2. Dismissal- Teachers need to walk students to the buses after school to ensure that students get on the correct bus. Parents picking up students should wait at the front of the school and teachers will bring the students to them. Also, if you want to talk to your child’s teacher please wait until after they have all of their students on the bus or picked up.
3. Google Apps- On Monday, you will receive a pack of information that the Fern Ridge School District will be creating a Google App account for each student to allow them to access Google Classroom, Google Docs, and other apps. Families need to sign the form and return it to school. We are asking all students to sign it, including kindergarten. Google Apps may not be used at all grade levels, but once an account is established for a student, much like their lunch account or library account, that Google App account can follow them through school. We will be posting an electronic copy of the form on our website as well.
4. Open House- Our Open House this year will be from 6:30 to 7:30 on September 29th. We invite all of our families to come and visit classrooms and meet teachers. There will be a very brief Title One informational meeting at 5:45. Classrooms will open at 6:30.
5. New Staff!! We are very excited to introduce our new staff members. Our Kindergarten enrollment went up this year so we have added a third Kindergarten classroom. Lucky for us we were able to steal the wonderful Robin Nelson from Elmira to teach our classroom. Mrs. Nelson has decades of teaching in our district and tons of experience. We also want to welcome Debbie Harrison and Mollie Monahan to our Instructional Assistant staff. Both have tremendous expertise working with students and we know they will do a great job supporting student learning.
6. Just a reminder that families can go directly to the cafeteria to put money on their child’s lunch account- there is no need to stop in the office.
7. And finally, if you are calling to change your child’s afterschool plans, please call before 1:00 or before 11:00  on our Early Dismissal days.
