Just a few reminders as we approach the end of a great school year:

As the weather heats up, please remember that our school has a dress code. No spaghetti straps, shorts/skirts must be past your child’s finger tips, and flip-flops are not allowed at school due to safety reasons. A complete list of our dress code can be found in our family handbook.

Please do not drop off your child before 7:30 or allow them to arrive by bike before 7:30. We have had students arriving these last few weeks as early as 7:00. There is no supervision before 7:30 and students are not allowed in the building before 7:30.

Parents dropping their children off in the morning must  use the drop-off lane in front of the school. We do not want parents parking along or in front of the cafeteria to drop off or pick up their children because we do not want cars crossing the crosswalk in front of the cafeteria. Especially with the warm weather, we have more students riding their bike or walking to school which means more students using that crosswalk to access the building.  Our drop-off lane is  to ensure the safety of all of our students.  Thank you for using it. And don’t forget, you can let students out at the sign or if you are the second car behind the sign. The drop-off lane really is quick and convenient for parents.

Yearbooks are still on sale. Order forms are on the table in the hallway by the office. We only ordered a limited amount and once they are sold we cannot get more.

Teacher Requests for 17-18: Monday’s newsletter will have 17-18 teaching assignments and information on how to request a teacher for next year. We will only accept requests received by Monday, May 15th. There is an official form that families must use. Please note that at this time of the year teaching assignments are not set in stone and may change due to enrollment needs. Also, we do our best but we may not be able to honor all teacher requests. There is a lot of effort put into putting together classes for next year. Your child’s current teacher meets with their grade level partners and puts together groups that are balanced and with an eye for classroom chemistry and finding students who work well together. Our teachers put a tremendous amount of care into matching up current students with next year’s teachers.

Bus Notes/Changes in Afterschool Plans: Just another reminder to please call as early as you can if you are going to change your child’s afterschool plans. The best option is to have them have stable plans that don’t change. But if they have to change, the earlier we are notified the better. The front office gets very hectic towards the end of the day. Lorie and Ronda thank you!
