Hello Families,
I truly can’t believe it’s already May — time flies when you’re having fun! As we look ahead, there’s still a lot of important work to be done. Grade levels are finishing up curriculum, working on special projects, and staying focused on student achievement.
We have some exciting events coming up, including our annual Chalk the Walk! This community event is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Please look for ways to get involved, including selling raffle tickets, contributing to the bake sale, and participating in our silent auction, which features lots of great items. For the kids, we’ll have free activities like face painting, sidewalk chalk, and an inflatable obstacle course. If you’d like to donate or volunteer, please reach out to the PTA at elmiraeaglespta@gmail.com.
We will also continue with state testing this month. Our 3rd and 4th graders are up next. Please reach out if you have any questions about testing, or if your child is feeling anxious — we are here to help support them. Alongside academics, we’re continuing our extra activities such as choir, SMART Reading, and ukulele lessons.
Mrs. Herbert recently launched a new PE unit called “Beats in Motion,” thanks to a grant from the Oregon Country Fair. Students are exploring rhythm and movement in creative ways, and we are planning to showcase their work with a performance or two during Chalk the Walk!
Some Highlights:
- Kindergarten — Our youngest Eagles are officially becoming readers! It’s amazing to see how much they’ve blossomed.
- 1st Grade — Recently attended two exciting field trips to Orchid Health and Mt. Pisgah.
- 3rd Grade — Busy preparing for their big field trip to the Portland Zoo in June.
- 4th Grade — Working hard on their Lewis and Clark performance, scheduled for June. They are sounding amazing!
- 5th Grade — Heading to Outdoor School this month! They are inching closer to middle school, and we couldn’t be more proud of them.
