I wanted to share with you the latest photos of our school under construction this summer. All of the construction workers have been doing a great job. Walls have been torn down in the office area, the storage room has been removed to make space for the new cafeteria, and they are digging outside of Room 3 in preparation for the new building. Here is the information you need to know about registration for 2015-16:
New First Through Fifth Grade Students: Registration will be on August 19th from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Follow the link to the right to print the forms and fill them out in advance. Parents must bring current proof of residence, copy of birth certificate, and current immunization information. Due to Veneta Elementary being under construction this summer, registration on August 19th will be in the LCC classroom at Elmira High School (24936 Fir Grove Lane). The school board reviewed the proposed changes to our schedule and as we were trying to capture more instructional time, we decided to adjust our changes to better accommodate parents, staff and most of all learning. The final change and schedule for our school is:
Start Time: 7:55 Every school day
Release Time Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 2:25
Early Release day: Wednesdays 12:45

You may have noticed the fences are now up around VES and construction has started. Yeah!! During construction, we have located the Veneta Elementary School office to the LCC classroom at Elmira High School. The LCC Classroom is the door past the main office as you head towards the track- the last door closest to the track. To get Elmira High School turn left on Fir Grove off of Territorial just past Elmira Elementary School or take a left on Warthen and a right on Falcon Drive. Our relocated office will be open until 3:00 PM on June 19 and reopen August 10th at 6:30 AM. We will not be moving back into our new offices at Veneta until August 31st. The phone number for our temporary offices is 541-935-8200 ext 281 for Ronda and ext 294 for Olivia. You can also still reach us by email. Kindergarten and New Student Registration will be August 19th from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM here in our relocated offices. If you did not return your updated registration materials for next year, you will need to register in person August 25, 26th, or 27th.
We are using the District Office fax at 541-935-8222. We aren’t in the same building as our temporary fax machine, but we will be checking our faxes on a regular basis. If its something we need right away- give us a call and we will make sure someone goes to the district office to pick it up.

Due to construction, the playground, track, and fields will be off-limits to the public. Fences will be going up in the next few days. Please help us keep everyone safe by steering clear of the construction zone our school will be this summer.

This Tuesday at 12:30 we will break ground on a major renovation of Veneta Elementary School. Over the next six months, we will add a new cafeteria, six new classrooms, a new bus loop, and extensively remodel the offices and library. Due to construction, Veneta Elementary School will have an early release on June 12th for first through fifth grade students. School will dismiss at 11:45 AM for 1st through 5th grade students. There will be no PM Kindergarten. AM Kindergarten will dismiss at their regular time of 11:00. This applies only to VES and is not a district wide early release. 5th Grade Promotion will still be 8:30 AM on June 12th.
This summer All About Art will host a summer program at the Veneta Community Center integrating art and science. There will be two sessions. Bats, Bugs, Frogs, and Bogs will run from July 6th to July 16th and Night Creatures will run July 20th to July 30th. Each session students will learn about the natural world around them. In addition to learning, they will also create art projects like bat mobiles or paint t-shirts or sketch in a wildlife sketch book. These workshops are being taught by local artists and educators Annette Rothweiler and Alex Lanham. The two week sessions start run from 8:30 to Noon. Your child also has the option after the session to get a free lunch at the summer lunch program. The cost is only $45 per a session. Information about the program was sent home with the students May 18th. Space is limited. Scholarships are available. They will even provide healthy snacks.
