We had an accidental pull of a fire alarm on campus this afternoon.  We wanted to emphasize that this was an accident and at no time was there any concern about a fire in the building.  The fire department responded and confirmed this as well and our maintenance department quickly reset our fire alarm after the incident.  Thanks to everyone for your concern.

Based on the new guidance from the governor today, we are going to delay the start of our 3rd session of athletics until December 7th.  We understand this is disappointing for many of you, but due to the need to play basketball and wrestling indoors and the current increase in cases we feel this is the prudent way to act.  We will plan to start winter sports workouts on Monday, December 7th and will give you updates as soon as we have any additional information.

We recently experienced a short term power outage.  At this time it appears that power has been restored and we have internet access again.  Due to the limited time left in 2nd period we will cut those classes short and start up again at 12:00 PM for 3rd period.  We apologize for the inconvenience and hope that we don’t have any further interruptions to the school day.

Good Afternoon Senior Students and Parents/Guardians,

My name is Sandie Smith and I am an ASPIRE mentor at Elmira High School.  I have volunteered for 16 years at the High School, helping Seniors do FAFSA, OSAC, Scholarships and College Admissions along with helping stay on track with the colleges of choice.  This year I will be continuing helping Seniors, but I am now an employee of Fern Ridge School District.

I worked with the Class of 2020 and as you all know, the last part of the year, there were no students in the building so everything was done by phone, zoom or email.  I was able to continue assisting the Seniors through the end of the school year and it was very successful.

Due to the changes this year with Covid-19, I’m having to do things a little differently.  In the past, ASPIRE had a table set up during registration for students to fill out an ASPIRE form and that is how I got my list of seniors who were reaching out for my assistance.  Well today I would like to reach out and see who would like to be a part of ASPIRE/HELP with you going forward after High School.  I will be attempting to call each of you as well.  If you are ready to get started fill out a PERMISSION FORM. You can scan and email the completed form back to me, or drop it off at the EHS front office.

If you are aware of who I am and what I do and you are interested in being a part of my team, please email me and let me know.  Sandieevo@aol.com. Please include your first and last name in the email.  If you would like to include a phone number that works best for you, please include that as well.

I look forward to working with the class of 2021.  We can do this.

A reminder to our families that meals for the week (lunches and breakfasts) can be ordered and then picked up every Monday night from 5-6 PM at EHS.  For details regarding that program you can view an earlier post at:  https://www.fernridge.k12.or.us/?p=10449.

We are also pleased to announce that we WILL be able to offer this the week of Thanksgiving, on Monday November 23rd (there is NO SCHOOL at all that week).  We will take orders beginning Monday, November 9th and continue through Wednesday November 18th.  You can place your order (just need last name and number of children ages 0-18) by either emailing our food service director at afullerton@fernridge.k12.or.us, or by calling your local school and asking them to forward the information to Mr. Fullerton.  Once your order is places you just need to show up at EHS between 5:00 and 6:00 PM on the 23rd to receive the meals.

Pre-ordering allows the food service staff to order the right amount of product, and ensure nothing is going to waste! We hope that many families will participate!  Any questions, you can also call Mr. Fullerton at 541-935-8218.

We recently worked to clean up our emails in Google Classroom to match what parents have given us in eSchool.  There may be a few parents that have a disruption in their Google Classroom notifications because of this.  If you have any issues please contact the school so that we can fix it for you.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Greetings students and parents of 9th-12th grade students (both EHS and OPTIONS)

To improve the usability and security of our student’s computer accounts, students will be prompted to set new passwords on their district account. That prompt will go out first thing Monday morning. Beginning Monday morning, when students log into their chromebook or google account with their current password they will be asked to create a new password to continue.

Students should choose a password they can remember, write it down and store it somewhere safe. They will need that new password to log in, and are responsible for remembering it and keeping it secure.

Students who do lock themselves out of their accounts can get their passwords reset by calling the school directly or by calling the student tech support line at 541-952-7030.

NOTICE:  We will be doing the same thing for both 6th-8th and elementary students at some point next week.
