Reminder: K-12 Social Sciences Curriculum Adoption Process and Input Opportunity

Dear Fern Ridge School District Students, Families, and Community Members:

Beginning the 26-27 school year, FRSD will be implementing  Social Science curriculum for *6th-12th grade students across the district, designed to meet Oregon’s state educational standards and align between grade levels. Curriculum includes the textbooks, materials, and digital resources that support student instruction. Teams from each school including administrators, classroom and special education teachers, and intervention specialists have the opportunity to review programs from various publishers.

FRSD Social Sciences Adoption Timeline Overview

  • September-January: K-12 Teams review standards, work to align goals/vision to meeting standards, and participate in curriculum caravans and ODE information sessions

  • January- March: Teams review curriculum information/resources, narrow choices. Samples are ordered from top choices to compare, gather quotes from publishers

  • March- April: Student and community input

  • May: Board action requested

  • July: Order/purchasing

  • August: PD Planning and implementation

*K-5 Postponement- Will use the 26-27 school year to continue reviewing standards and aligning to our Core Curriculums in addition to using supplemental materials in order to meet standards. The board will be presented the Independent Adoption Plan to approve during the 26-27 School Year.

6-8: TCI


9-12: Cengage/Nation9-12: TCI11th-12th Advanced Placement:
  • APUSH  (11th or 12th grade Advanced Placement US History Class)
