Dear Elmira High School families and friends,

The start of school is quickly approaching, and we have a few reminders to share before you ease into the end of August.

Topics contained in this letter include: registration information, technology and textbook return, school meals and athletic game schedules.

Registration dates for the upcoming school year are as follows:

Wednesday, August 16th, from 9 am to 7 pm for all new district students. Parents/guardians need to bring the student’s birth certificate, immunization record, proof of address, and transcript for students in the 10th thru 12th grades.

For all students who attended Fern Ridge Schools last year, registration by grade level is on the following dates at the following times:

Seniors: Wednesday, August 23rd, from 8 am to 11 am.

Sophomores: Wednesday, August 23rd, from 1 pm to 4 pm.

Juniors: Thursday, August 24th, from 10 am to 1 pm.

Frosh: Thursday, August 24th, from 3 pm to 6 pm.

During registration parents/guardians will verify student/family contact information, pick up class schedules, get locker assignments, check out a Chromebook, take school pictures for photos and school identification cards and pay optional fees for a yearbook, parking pass, ASB membership and Chromebook protection plan. In addition, students will be able to meet some of our club advisors and leaders to learn more about extra-curricular offerings at EHS.

The amazing EHS Booster Club will be on-site selling EHS swag.

Look around your house, in your car, and in the garage for textbooks and technology that needs to be returned to the school. Thank you to those who returned school property over the summer. You will have the opportunity to check in regarding missing items at registration.

Both breakfast and lunch will cost students this year. If you are a family who may qualify for the free and reduced program for meals, please go to the link below to apply for the program. Regularly priced meals are $2 for breakfast and $3.55 for lunch.

We hope you support our football and soccer teams this season. If coming to a game is on your list of things to do this Fall, please plan for fewer seats at the contests. The grandstand was deemed unsafe last year and couldn’t be insured without substantial reconstruction. The decision was made to remove the stands at the beginning of the summer due to structural weakness. The district moved temporary bleachers to the field but recognized that spectators may need to bring lawn chairs to sit on during the game. The middle school student section will look slightly different than in the past. Signs will be posted when you arrive at the field to help direct. As a reminder, no dogs are allowed in the fenced area around the football/soccer field.

EHS will celebrate Homecoming the week of October 16th with the culminating parade and football game on Friday the 20th.

Elmira High School was honored by the Oregon School Activities Association for an entire year, free of any fan, player, or coach being ejected from a game. This is something to be proud of, and we wanted to thank all of you for showing good sportsmanship throughout the year.

Go Falcons,

Cydney Vandercar, Principal

Joel Smith, Assistant Principal/Athletic Director
