Fifth Grade Families!
Monday June 9th
Fern Ridge Middle School
Registration for returning students who will be in first through fifth grade at Veneta during the 2014-2015 school year has begun. Yesterday we sent home a packet with each student. The packet included a student verification form that parents need to correct and update as well as other school forms including medical information and transportation. All parents need to do is update and/or complete the forms and send them back to school with their child. Registration forms are due back by June 6th.
Parents who return the forms by June 6th will not need to come to registration in August and those children will be enrolled for next year. Continue reading
Thank you to everyone who supported our school bond and helped it to pass- from the voters who chose to make an investment in the future of our community to all of the volunteers and staff members who worked so hard to make it happen. You are amazing. This is a huge event for Veneta Elementary School. The bond is going to allow us to fix some things that need to be fixed, add what needs to be added, and make huge improvements to our building. Thanks to yesterday’s vote, we will be able to give children in Veneta a safer building that better meets their learning needs now and for the next twenty years. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
We are pleased to announce that the Science Factory Children’s Museum will be visiting Veneta Elementary School on Wednesday, May 28th from 5:30 to 7:45 for a family Science Night. This event is open to all of our families and community members. Continue reading

FRMS and former VES student Shelby McCormick has organized a rummage sale to help raise funds to buy books for the 2014-2015 Oregon Battle of the Books for Veneta Elementary School. There are sixteen book titles for OBOB and we would like to purchase 10 copies of each title if possible. Shelby has organized this rummage sale as her FRMS Leadership Class Project to help make this happen. The sale will be at the Fern Ridge Christian Church located at 24918 Warthen Road in Elmira. It will be open this Friday, May 9th from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturday May 9th from 8:00 AM to 6 :00 PM. Stop by, find a bargain, help make Shelby’s project a success, and support our school.
Come see the stars and the moon and everything else in the universe with us! Veneta Elementary is hosting a star gazing event on the VES field from 8:00 to 10:00 Friday night. We will have local astronomers there to provide their expertise as well as telescopes that students can use to view the night sky in detail. This is a unique event made possible by Mrs. Pebworth’s student teacher Alichelen Kjosness so we hope you will join us.
Veneta Elementary is lucky enough to have wonderful teachers who work hard to provide their students with the best learning environment possible. Our teachers go above and beyond every single day. They are simply amazing and we are grateful for everything they do. If you get the chance this week, be sure to thank your child’s teacher and let them know how much you appreciate how hard they work all year long to help your child be successful. A word of thanks or even a note of thanks lets our teachers know that you know that they make a difference and that the work they do matters.
