Fern Ridge School Dsitrict 28J is accepting applications to fill a vacant Budget Committee position. The following position is open: Position #1 (Expires 6/30/17). To be eligible for appointment, the appointive member must 1) live in the district; and 2) not be an officer, agent or employee of the district. Applications are available here or at the District Office, 88834 Territorial Road, Elmira. The applications will be received at the District Office until opening is filled.

Thursday, March 2nd, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. is Parent-Teacher Conferences for Fern Ridge Middle School and Elmira High School. Conferences will be held in the library at the middle school and in the cafeteria at the high school. This is a great opportunity to talk to your child’s teachers.
The open enrollment process provides an additional method of school choice for Oregon students which allows them to apply f
or a permanent admission to a school district. Non-resident students may apply to transfer from their resident district to attend Fern Ridge School District through the open enrollment process.
Interested non-resident students must submit a completed Fern Ridge School District Open Enrollment form to the Fern Ridge School District Office beginning March 1, 2017 and closing on April 1, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. Accepted applicants will be notified if your request is approved around May 1, 2017. At the school board meeting last evening, Craig Soderberg resigned his school board position after serving 10 years on the Fern Ridge School District School Board. Thank you Craig for your years of dedication, commitment, kindness, knowledge, and work in helping make the Fern Ridge School District a great place for students to learn. Craig will be greatly missed!
Reminder – The end of the semester was moved a week. There will be no school this Friday, February 3rd. It is a Teacher Workday.
The Fern Ridge School District joins the other 196 school districts throughout Oregon to celebrate January as “School Board Recognition Month”.
Our school board members spend countless hours of unpaid time working to provide the best possible education for our students. Celebrating School Board Recognition Month is one way to say thanks for all they do.
School board members represent their fellow citizens’ views and priorities in the complex enterprise of maintaining and running the community’s public schools.
Even though we are making a special effort during January to show appreciation for our school board members, we recognize their contributions reflect a year-round effort on their part. They are dedicated individuals who are committed to improving student achievement and to fighting for the best for all of our students. A power outage in the school district has occurred. Veneta Elementary School is the only school affected by the outage. The restrooms are still in working order. School will continue as normal to the end of the regular school day. Everything is going well. By the time bus drivers can get in it will be normal release time. Their phone system is out so if you need a message to get to Veneta Elementary School please call the District Office at 541-935-2253.
