Bond Updates:
Elmira Elementary School 5/20/2016
The new buildings at Elmira Elementary are taking shape thanks to the hard work of LCG Pence and their subcontractors. We have enjoyed some beautiful weather recently that has helped keep things on track. We can see the future looking bright through these great pictures from Greg Baker. As we transition into the summer, we are pushing through the outer envelope and making progress towards the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-ins.
Elmira Elementary School 5/2/2016
The construction is moving at an outstanding pace as we can see from these great aerial pictures. Today we were able to open the new covered playground for the students. The rest of the building is really taking shape.

As the contractors are making progress the outlines of the new school and play area are becoming more clear. The construction crews have started framing out the kitchen, commons, classrooms, and the outside play structure.
March 31, 2016
We are excited to see some beautiful images from high over the Elmira Elementary construction site. The contractors are well into the concrete and framing of the new building.
VES
With most of the Veneta Elementary construction project wrapping up for this school year we’re excited to share a few pictures of the new wing, classrooms, library, and the cafeteria. New flooring, more technology, landscaping, and new parking and bus loops are some of the improvements still to come.
EES
It is with great anticipation that constriction is in full swing at Elmira Elementary. The ground works are moving along on schedule, despite the weather’s occasional lack of cooperation. Plumbing and underground electrical have been laid, and the concrete has been poured.
The work at Fern Ridge Middle School is complete and the students and staff have settled in to the school year.
Front Entrance Library
The new additions at Veneta Elementary School have taken shape and the project is on schedule to be complete before the Winter Break. The work focuses on completing the interior finishes and making preparations to move into the new areas.
New classroom wing New lunch room / kitchen
The site work for the new Elmira Elementary School building got underway in late October. The project is planned to take one year to complete with construction of the building beginning in mid-December.
Breaking ground
At Elmira High School the installation of the new field lights is complete, which has greatly improved the viewing of activities on the field and increased both the safety of the students and security of the campus. The new auxiliary gym project for the high school has begun its design phase. Staff is working with the design team to begin to put together preliminary sketches of the project.

Background
In October 2012 the District initiated the development of a comprehensive, community-based, long range facility plan. The purpose of the plan was to help serve as a guide for assessing the need for facility improvements and capital investments including repairs, modernization, upgrades and new construction. In February 2013 the Long Range Facility Planning Committee was formed; the Committee met six times over five months and assessed the District’s existing facilities, examined enrollment projections, reviewed different educational models, and gathered input from the community. Information was reviewed from architects, engineers, staff, students, and community members on the potential scope of work needed to increase and improve instructional spaces, make improvements to campus safety and security, invest in technology, address critical capital needs, and create facilities more readily available for community use.
In October 2013 the School Board received a report from the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee with a recommendation that the District initiate a plan that targets safety, technology, a positive educational environment and critical capital repairs, through select projects in the next three years. On February 18, 2014, the School Board voted unanimously to place a $26,670,000 bond measure before the community on the May 20, 2014 ballot.
On May 20, 2014 voters approved Measure 20-220, authorizing the issuance of $26.67 million in general obligation bonds to replace Elmira Elementary School, renovate other school facilities, and improve technology and safety throughout the District.
